MIAC views this event as marking an important beginning for sports arbitration and hopes that this conference will be the first of many conversations, programmes and initiatives aimed at supporting the establishment and development of sports arbitration in the Maldives.
MIAC, in collaboration with @olympicmv and @officialaiac, successfully held a one day Sports Arbitration Conference aimed at familiarizing key stakeholders in the sporting sector with sports arbitration and its potential role in resolving sports related disputes.
The conference featured two distinguished speakers, Mr. Richard Wee, Managing Partner of Richard Wee Chambers, and Ms. Heather Yee Jing Wah, Registrar of the AIAC, who shared their knowledge and expertise on sports arbitration.
The partnership also seeks to enhance cooperation and facilitate the sharing of best practices in ADR mechanisms. This MoU reflects the shared commitment of both centres to the development of ADR and strengthening the regional ADR landscape through institutional cooperation.
MIAC is pleased to announce the signing of a MoU with AIAC on 11 October 2026. The signing took place virtually during the Sports Arbitration Conference held at Crossroads Maldives.
The MoU was signed by Datuk Danesh Chandran, CEO of AIAC and Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, CEO of MIAC.
This MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening institutional ties between the two centres. MIAC & AIAC aim to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of ADR and to create opportunities for professional development and practical training.
This MoU reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the regional arbitration landscape and promoting the Maldives and the wider SAARC region as an increasingly connected and trusted hub for international dispute resolution.
MIAC on behalf of the Republic of Maldives and @Sarco_Sec_ have reaffirmed their commitment to promote the resolution of commercial, trade and investment disputes through institutional arbitration and other ADR mechanisms, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The partnership will also facilitate the planning and implementation of joint programmes, initiatives, and capacity-building activities, as appropriate, to further advance knowledge, cooperation, and best practices in international dispute resolution.
