🧵1/3 Here's the updated contributions from GL Homes to the @MiamiDadeBCC & @MayorDaniella. 252 contributions using approx 56 different names totaling $593.5K. $388.5K (65.5%) to current & $47K (7.9%) to those who resigned in 2025.
While doing the ALT text, I made a typo & it autocorrected to "disabled rioters." 😅
I've said almost this exact thing hundreds of times in the last 9 years. Currently, we live within 3 blocks of multiple bus stops, but there is no safe, accessible infrastructure to get there!
Looking for gift suggestions, please!
Kiddo's math teacher has been a huge help this school year. She made sure he felt safe & listened to in her classroom & helped him advocate for himself when others were not following his IEP.
What is a good math gift for her for ~$20?
This is actually Brickell, just south of downtown. I legit called this a death trap at one of the meetings. People in the neighborhood (drivers, bike riders, & pedestrians) use the side streets specifically to avoid it. Downtown & nearby neighborhoods have terrible infrastructure
A new roundabout in Downtown Miami (SW 13th St and SW 3rd Ave). Center island is too small. Not enough horizontal deflection at entrances. Traffic still speeds.
Probably one of the worst roundabouts I've ever seen.
The horrific state of @CityofMiami pedestrian infrastructure has claimed yet another mobility device. A week of use & my husband's wheelchair is already damaged. Now my husband missed a day of work & is at risk of being fired which would result in us being homeless again.
@commescalona@CityofMiami Thank you for responding, Commissioner. My husband's wheelchair actually broke yesterday. This is in Little Havana, just NW of Flagler St & 17 Ave. We've been begging for access to the sidewalks & trolleys for 8 years. Talk to Ms. Wade in Public Works.

Around 9:30 pm last night, after working an 8 hour shift & using Metrorail & bus to commute, my husband got stuck in the middle of the @CityofMiami street. It hurt too much to stand & he couldn't get his wheelchair to move. He had to call kiddo & I to push him home! @commescalona
1/3 Not only do disabled & elderly people struggle using public transit in @CityofMiami, the pedestrian infrastructure is a nightmare! Missing & broken sidewalks, most not wide enough for wheelchairs, along with no curb cuts!
@runtothetop16@CityofMiami Yes, in the last year he's had 2 surgeries which required him to miss work. He's had 9 surgeries in the last 4 years & still might lose his remaining leg.
How is it "playing the victim" to demand sidewalk & road maintenance? I guess you have never paid taxes nor left your house.

@RicherThanYou70@CityofMiami Transportation America is the reason I started tracking political contributions. Donates millions to local & state electeds for no bid contracts. Unable to provide safe & reliable services. Plus my husband rolls less than 10 blocks a day round trip.

No easy way to get there by public transit, so I can't attend.
Artificially restricting movement prevents us from participating in our community. Funny how people are okay with lockdowns as long as they aren't the ones locked down.
Here's footage of the @CityofMiami Trolley driver actually doing a pretty good job on Tues! Functional kneeling, too! Most of the city controlled bus/trolley stops are terribly designed & the trolleys not maintained, but it's easier to work around when drivers make the effort.
1/3 This was today just before 2 pm on @CityofMiami Trolley 2097, operated by the City & @GoMiamiDade paratransit (STS) contractor. Driver pulled far away from curb, only kneels upon request, pax had to help me board. Trolley not designed for wheeled mobility devices to be stored
Every time you see gov. homeless numbers just know they're severe under counts. The people you see on the streets are who get counted and they're just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many homeless motel residents, people in storage facilities, cars, etc. All go uncounted.
@BillyCorben@MayorDaniella@EileenHigginsFL If I could only give 1 piece of advice as a campaign finance researcher & reform advocate, never EVER vote for anyone associated with Ulvert. Older video made while I was homeless, but it shows how Ulvert holds the purse strings to control Miami-Dade Dems

If I only was able to give 1 piece of advice as a campaign finance researcher & reform advocate, it would be never EVER vote for anyone associated with Christian Ulvert. People associated with him have some of the most disgusting campaign treasurer's reports I have ever seen.
Ulvert is a primary reason Democrats have been a non-entity in Florida since 1999. This political grifter is a cancer on the party and has profited from every loss. He, along with his puppets @MayorDaniella and @EileenHigginsFL, conspired to turn the Miami-Dade Commission red — by coronation NOT election.

Now my husband (meaning me) is trying to get our Medicaid HMO to cover a mobility scooter. I'm still playing catch up on everything I had to put off while trying to get his wheelchair approved. Disability tax is killing my productivity this month.
I'm just extra frustrated b/c I have literally spent all my productive hours this week fighting with our Medicaid HMO over stupidity. They won't pay for my husband's wheelchair. They won't pay for my seizure meds. They refused to pay for my PAP & mammogram after approving. Etc.
Kiddo just summarized our experiences living in @CityofMiami in particular & Miami-Dade County in general.
"It's not that I can't. It's my city can't."
It was in regards to it being unsafe for him to ride a bike or scooter to high school, but that's a pretty good tl;dr overall.
My husband's wheelchair arrived last night. Within minutes of him leaving in it to go to work, he was sending me expletive filled videos b/c @CityofMiami refuses to make their pedestrian infrastructure walker & wheelchair accessible. Here's his rant & another video is below 👇
