#Gold is having one of its best years ever, up over 26%, on pace to beat 2007's 32% rise. It's set to have its best year since 1979 when it rose 126%. Yet the $GDX is only up 31%. That means investors still haven't noticed the bull market or added mining stocks to their screens.
"The median price of an existing home sold in August was $416,700, up 3.1% from the same month in 2023. That is the highest price ever for August." "First-time buyers made up just 26% of August sales, matching the all-time low from November 2021." Young adults can't afford to buy homes (and start their families) due the asset inflations (bubbles) the Fed continues to encourage. How I despise the central planners and long for the return of free markets. https://t.co/HFKk7p1Cfg
Kamala Harris's economic plan risks long-term damage through heavy government intervention in housing and price controls. Free markets are the key to prosperity

Something else I've never seen before - Just introduced new iPhone models immediately selling at steep price discounts in China. This is no "Supercycle." It's a badly botched roll-out because Apple was forced to introduce "Apple Intelligence" well before it was ready as they were so far behind the competition with AI features. https://t.co/ISry92U43O
"How did the U.S. fiscal path simultaneously become economically more alarming yet politically less relevant? Federal debt and deficits have blown past various imagined red lines and feared consequences have not materialized." The simple answer is the Fed monetized the debt with trillions of dollars of money printing and the result was the highest inflation surge in over 4 decades. Expect a lot more of that in the future. There is no outrage (yet), though there should be. https://t.co/PRpNcNIehq
If you are interested (maybe if you have free time during tomorrow's holiday), I did an interview with Adam Taggart of Thoughtful Money yesterday. Always a pleasure to speak with Adam!
Notice the non-answer to the WSJ question on whether EBay is seeing revenue or profit improvements from its heavy GPU investments (likely for Nvidia's GPUs) for Generative AI. Google answered the same way on its most recent quarterly conference call. It's always improved customer "satisfaction." If Gen AI was driving higher revenues or profits, they'd say it. But they aren't. If this doesn't change, we'll have a bust bigger than we've ever seen before.
WSJ: Have you seen yet an impact on top-line growth or an impact on bottom-line profit?
Priest: Certainly there’s elements of momentum that we’ve seen from these investments in generative AI. Nitzan talked about the magical listing, whether it’s item description or the other stuff that we’re doing in beta. We are seeing customer satisfaction go up significantly from the investments that we’re making.
