UGANDA TOURISM
The last 6yrs have been hardest year for me in my tourism life and yes, we have had covid, Ebola but management of information has failed us!
Tourism had also attracted many young educated Ugandans and they were starting to see results, I mentor some so I know and more were coming board.
I dont know about those that indirectly benefit from tourism who are so many and many of them don’t even know they do by the way.
It’s not about disease outbreaks, it’s just been how information has been handled, if you follow me, you can see the efforts i invest in and yes, many others do!
After 6yrs, this year the few accommodations have gone up to about 70% and within 2 days of announcement, we had moved from 70% to 30% and kept reducing.
Uganda already has very few accommodations but even the few, owners are struggling with loans and all sorts of bills across board.
Nothing has killed the entrepreneurs spirit especially in tourism like information handling by the ministry of health. And it’s more about how information is put out there!
No country succeeds with a dampened spirit of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs make the economy and everything rotates around how the economy functions.
Me who knows about regional business and also understand our potential as a people and a country sometimes, it’s hard very hard.
Because of 2 planting seasons we casually say, oh we shall get over it. What keeps us backwards are things we can handle better according to me.
If don’t travel, you will never get to see even in our neighborhood how much business those guys do and you know what, they aren’t any better than us!
I interact with them, I can tell they aren’t any better than us. Many tell me, Amos you are operating in a small environment, you can do better elsewhere.
Then you ask yourself, who else will improve Uganda if am not one of them?

DAY 3: Indigenous Cultural Experience – Lake Eyasi Region
Day 3 took us on an incredible cultural and heritage journey to the Lake Eyasi Region, offering a deeper understanding of Tanzania's rich indigenous communities and traditions.
Our first stop was the Hadzabe Tribe in Gisalagwa, Karatu District, where members of this indigenous hunter-gatherer community shared fascinating insights into their way of life. They explained how different arrows are used for hunting different animals and gave us a hands-on opportunity to learn how to use bows and arrows. The experience was topped off with an energetic cultural dance that allowed us to connect even more with their traditions. 🏹
We then proceeded to visit the Datoga Tribe, also located in Karatu District near Lake Eyasi. Here, community members demonstrated how they use stones to grind maize into flour and explained how they make their traditional garments from goat skins. We were also introduced to their remarkable craftsmanship as they showcased the process of making beautiful hand bangles from bronze, alongside other ornaments crafted from copper and beads.
The entire experience was authentic, educational, and inspiring, providing a unique glimpse into the cultural heritage that continues to thrive in this part of Tanzania.
At Zazu Africa Safaris, we are excited to create unforgettable Indigenous Cultural Experience tours around the Lake Eyasi Region, giving our clients the opportunity to engage with local communities, learn about their traditions, and experience a different side of Africa beyond wildlife safaris.
Stay tuned — the experience is coming soon! ✨🌍

I had a productive meeting with Mr. Henry Kijambo, Vice Chairman of TATO( Tanzania Association of Tour Operators) and Managing Director of Osupuko Lodges and Camps. Our discussion focused on creating stronger business links that can increase Uganda’s tourism flow by tapping into Tanzania’s high-end tourism market.
One of the key challenges we identified is that many Tanzanian tour operators know very little about Uganda and the incredible experiences our country offers. We explored practical ways of driving more traffic between the two destinations through strategic partnerships, destination awareness, and familiarization trips.
I am delighted that Mr. Kijambo agreed to allocate time during the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) Annual General Meeting to showcase Uganda’s beauty and tourism potential to Tanzanian tour operators and stakeholders. To support this effort, I will be working on a documentary highlighting Uganda’s unique attractions, experiences, and destinations.
We also discussed organizing regular familiarization trips between Uganda and Tanzania. If more than 50 Tanzanian tour operators gain firsthand experience of Uganda, it becomes much easier to market the destination and generate business opportunities for both countries.
Mr. Kijambo shared fond memories of his recent visit to Uganda and emphasized how much he enjoyed destinations such as Kaynela Farms, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Kazinga Channel, and Murchison Falls. His enthusiasm and confidence in Uganda’s tourism product give me hope that we shall see more Tanzanian visitors choosing Uganda as their next destination.
Sometimes I wish more Ugandans could fully appreciate how remarkable our country is. Uganda possesses some of the world’s most unique tourism experiences, and if we consistently market our nation positively, the opportunities for growth, employment, and revenue generation through tourism would be immense.
Entebbe Zoo the best in East, Central and West Africa
The Pan-Africa Association of Zoos and Aquaria (PAAZA) ranks the Entebbe Zoo as the best in East, Central and West Africa.
The animal hospital, which World Bank and Ugandan tourism sector leaders call one of its kind in the region, is fully equipped with anesthesia equipment, surgical tables, surgical lights, stateof-the-art X-ray machine, animal vital monitor, CBC (complete blood count) machine, chemistry analyzers, freezers, and nitrogen tanks.

DAY 2: Ngorongoro Crater – The Eighth Wonder of the World
Day 2 was nothing short of spectacular as we explored the breathtaking Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to one of Africa's most remarkable natural wonders.
Our game drive around the Ngorongoro Crater offered incredible wildlife sightings, including zebras, Thomson's gazelles, hyenas, giraffes, and an abundance of birdlife such as flamingos, crowned cranes, ostriches, and many more species.
We were also fortunate to encounter the Big Four; buffaloes, black rhinos, lions, and elephants hence making the experience even more memorable.
Midway through the adventure, we enjoyed a delightful bush-packed lunch by Endoro Lodge, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Northern Circuit.
After an exciting day of exploration, we proceeded to Karatu Villas Lodge, where we checked in for dinner and an overnight stay, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the day.
The beauty, diversity, and abundance of wildlife within the crater truly showcase why Ngorongoro is considered the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Zazu Africa Safaris is preparing unforgettable Ngorongoro Conservation Area experiences for you, so get ready to discover one of Tanzania's most extraordinary safari destinations.

Ebola: travel restrictions on Uganda wrong, unnecessary - WHO
WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged countries that have imposed restrictions to reconsider their decisions.
He said Uganda has continued to report Ebola cases transparently and implement appropriate public health measures, arguing that travel restrictions do little to curb the spread of the disease while causing significant economic harm.

Tanzania Specialist owns 320 land cruisers and during busy season they outsource over 200 land cruisers
Often when we talk about tourism in Uganda , many people think we are joking or simply making conversation. The reality is that tourism is a serious business that requires learning, networking, and building partnerships.
Today, I had the opportunity to visit the offices of Tanzania Specialist in Arusha to learn more about their operations and how they conduct business. Tanzania Specialist is a well-known safari company headquartered in Arusha and serves thousands of travelers from around the world.
We were warmly welcomed by Mr. Killow Barati Ass head of business support , who gave us excellent service and a tour of their premises. The discussions were insightful, covering different tourism ideas, partnerships, and opportunities for collaboration.
One thing that impressed me was the scale at which they operate. During our discussions, I learned that they manage a large fleet of safari vehicles and also work with additional partners during peak seasons to meet demand. Their presence is so strong that you can hardly spend 5 minutes on a Tanzanian road without spotting one of their safari vehicles.

Day 1 – Tarangire National Park: The Baobab Kingdom 🇹🇿
Our game drive through Tarangire National Park was nothing short of incredible. We had the opportunity to spot two of Africa's Big Five—elephants and buffaloes—alongside a variety of other wildlife, including giraffes, warthogs, waterbucks, and an impressive array of birdlife such as ostriches, crested cranes, and African red-billed hornbills.
We also had the chance to explore the famous Baobab Kingdom, where Tarangire's iconic giant baobab trees dominate the landscape, creating one of the most unique and breathtaking safari settings in Africa.
It was truly an unforgettable experience, and we can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store as the adventure continues.
