I am currently with an attending that is overtly trans/homophobic. The first day I was with him I decided to take off my pride pin bc i didn’t want to deal with it.
My straight classmate who I’m rotating with starting wearing a pride pin the next day
I will never forget an attending I had on L&D during Ramadan, who pulled me and the one Muslim resident aside to let us know we were free to take breaks at any time, pray in a private room she reserved for us, and physically sat me down during iftaar time to make sure I ate well
After matching into my dream specialty in my location of choice, at a university hospital, as a Canadian IMG from a Caribbean school, I can safely say those medical school reddits were wrong. It’s undoubtedly hard and the odds are against you, but it’s possible. #Match2023
I used to follow IMG student inspo on Instagram before I even started med school. Now one of the residents I was following is my assigned mentor at @StJoes_EM. Full circle 🫶🏼 Goes to show that social media advice/motivation always helps 🥹
Misleading headline — working in the #ER still is a cool job, just not enough to sacrifice your own health/sanity and standards for our patients. I still love working in the ER, the question here is how to reform/improve the system. That’s a question of greater healthcare, not just the ER.
#IMGs are a major component of US health system & a backbone of workforce in many underserved, rural & safety-net hospitals. Many are super-talented & only need the right environment to realize their full potential & be leaders as can be seen everywhere once they become faculty!
I’m still processing this. As a Non-US IMG (🇨🇦), I can’t even put into words what this means. I’m excited to train at this amazing program and meet all these cool people!!
Congratulations to all of the medical students who graduated this year! You did it! 🥂🎓
We are excited to continue to support you as you further accomplish your goals through residency. Make sure to renew your membership with AAEM/RSA as a resident: https://t.co/PtaKvKGyh2
This decision means that the Court has held that the allegations we make, if proven, are sufficient to sustain a violation of California law. This is the first step we needed to move forward to stop Envision's corporate practice of medicine.
