It's out! Read about how to combine advanced animal vision modelling and colour pattern analysis with comparative phylogenetic methods in arguably some of the most incredible critters in the ocean: https://t.co/giyCu9YpTr. Amazing work with amazing people! #colsci#micaToolbox
BUG ALERT: Naive Bayes clustering in QCPA
When using Naive Bayes clustering in <v2.3, the standard deviations instead of the means are used for downstream colour pattern analysis. For details & fix, read here: https://t.co/nhAHFL3Vzj #colsci
The toolbox update v2.3 is online now. It provides several bug fixes and switches to a new LibRAW (DCRAW) version, which offers support for many more recent RAW camera file formats: https://t.co/SijQrRvUMg
Excited to share our new #colsci paper on how learning egg appearance guides nesting site choice for better camouflage. I enjoyed conducting this study with @CornishJackdaws and @SensoryEcology. Image analysis via @Micatoolbox. https://t.co/bSkytk7nDw

Out in ProcB - Chemical defences indicate bold colour patterns with reduced variability in aposematic nudibranchs - https://t.co/E62Qo1XuJ4.
Data & thoughts on the ecology & evolution of aposematism, feat. our fave critters! 🐌🌊 @MicaToolbox#colsci@EcoVisUQ@EcologyofVision
This dataset is bananas. High quality, calibrated UV + visible-spectrum images of >100 species of snakes let us compare across six different visual systems with @MicaToolbox. Working on it with Hayley, John David, and Alison was a genuine privilege, and I am SO GLAD IT'S OUT 🌈🐍
Interested in the role that sensory processing plays in perception of animal signals? Fully funded four-year PhD to start September 2024, deadline to apply 12th May. https://t.co/jDU4eYbBM2
We have considered the option to make this a dual mode (online/in person) event. To provide the best quality of the workshop for participants we will stick with an in-person format for this workshop, but will hopefully be able to run an online version in the near future.
Registration for the 2024 visual modelling workshop in Melbourne is now open. Come learn about all things animal vision modelling using ImageJ & R 🐟🐦⬛🦎🐝The workshop is conveniently timed with the opening of @ISBE2024 (29.09.2024). Please share! #colsci https://t.co/PSimZbjrZy
In this handy and very approachable review, @thehemi65 et al. provide a neat overview of a broad section of currently available tools and methods for the study of colour patterns in nature. Worth a read! #colsci
Excited to finally have this paper out after multiple years in the making with @bellwoodlab, @ReefFunctionHub, and @pete_cowman

New paper on fish camouflage🐟
We placed scorpionfish on backgrounds of different pattern granularity to see whether they adjust their skin pattern. Find out what changes we observed! With @MatteoSanton@MicaToolbox

Paper for recolorize, my R package for color segmentation, is out! Featuring a couple of new examples. Special shoutout to @SVBelleghem, who lit a candle when we submitted it and also was just the most helpful coauthor you could hope for. https://t.co/uRO2XoE3Ed
My lab at @USouthFlorida is looking for a postdoc to collaborate on a project on the evolution of poison frog color, behavior, and learning. I will be at #SICB2024 to chat - come join us 😀
