@fharper@octopusthink Some external keyboards have an Fn function or key that behaves a bit differently than the MacBook one—it's a really weird key 😅
But next time I'm looking at the keyboard shortcuts I'll see if anything's changed and we can add Fn 🤔
Hi friends! 🐙 If you upgraded to Ventura and noticed some high CPU usage when using Mic Drop, turns out the new Continuity Camera feature was messing with things!
We've shipped a fix to solve the issue. Quit and relaunch Mic Drop, and everything should sort itself out. 🙌
After waiting on Apple for six months, I rolled up my sleeves and worked around Monterey’s bananas Bluetooth bug myself. Now you can use @MicDropApp in Monterey with AirPods again 😅

Exciting news: @MicDropApp 1.4 is out and WORKS WITH BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES in Monterey! 🥳
Get the latest update from the Mac App Store or clicking "Check for Updates" in Mic Drop's menu bar icon. You can always get the latest version from https://t.co/oMV7hXzmnN.
Happy muting!
Coming super-duper soon to a @MicDropApp near you: visual mute notifications!
We're working on making it as clear as possible when you're muted, and when you're live. 🙊
For everyone who's written us about Monterey muting Bluetooth headphones when the mic is muted—we know how annoying this bug is.😡
Since Apple won't fix it, we've developed and tested a workaround and it's been good so far. 🙂
We'll have more to announce soon. Stay tuned!🤞
Our fix for @MicDropApp crashing on launch for some users has just been released in the Mac App Store and on our website https://t.co/n9VmlMj9rQ
Sorry about that friends! ❤️🐙
We've just updated Mic Drop, our mic-muting app, for Big Sur & new Macs. (Don't worry, it still works perfectly on Catalina.) 🚀
And, for December only, we've lowered the price to $2.99 (normally $6.99). Happy (quiet) holidays! 🙉

@HeyCisco@ketcomp@Webex We already have a ticket open (SR 689672405). Could you have an engineer reach out to us (Matt) in that issue and we can answer any questions there 🙂
WebEx’s latest release has a bug in detecting “unmute” status, which means it stays muted even after you unmute with Mic Drop.
We’ve contacted @Webex and offered to help, but in the meantime you can still use the web-based version with Mic Drop. Only the Mac app is affected.
@ketcomp@Webex Sadly not! We recently got a response from @Webex, but it was just asking if their new keyboard shortcut fixed the issue. We’re not sure they understand the problem, but we responded and explained the issue and steps to reproduce it.
We keep trying to help, but so far nothing 😓
The latest version of Cisco’s WebEx has a “microphone status syncing” feature. Sadly, it doesn’t check for changes to the system mute status so won’t unmute when Mic Drop unmutes your microphone.
Unfortunately this is a WebEx bug and not something we can fix.
@zoocat @octopusthinks Shoot, you’re right. We had some reports that was working for folks but having just tried, it looks like it only syncs one-way. 😓
Looks like this is a bug with WebEx then, we’ll send them a message but encourage you to reach out to their support as well.
The latest version of Cisco’s WebEx has a new feature that tries to detect system mute status. Unfortunately it looks like it doesn’t detect _unmuting_, so doesn’t unmute you when you unmute with Mic Drop.
We’re looking into it, but best bet for now is to disable the setting:
@sfdye The “fn” key is a special key and doesn’t behave like other keys. The usual APIs for detecting key presses doesn’t detect “fn”. But we’ll see if we can find a good solution!
We’ll see about detecting existing shortcuts too. Might be tough, but we’ll try! 👍🏻
@sfdye We’d like that too! But that’s up to Zoom; we set system level mute so Zoom could read from that. Google Meet does this, which is nice.
If you would like to see this in Zoom please let @zoom_us know. 😊
And please share Mic Drop with friends if you find it useful, thanks! 🙏🏻
