Love thinking about UX, tradeoffs, incentives, and public policy. Ask me my ๐ podcasts! โค๏ธ๐@shivalibabras Product @Github - views are my own.
It boggles my mind that most LLM chat interfaces still donโt have a Google docs style editor, eg. comments, suggestions, etc.
Think it would be so powerfully to be able to highlight parts of an output and give hyper targeted feedback
Anyone working on this?
The fact that you can name your product something so difficult that you have to build a feature just to help your customers pronounce it correctly and still be so wildly successful as IKEA - must mean you're spending entirely too much time on trivial details for your product.
I feel this is like a corollary of the Gell Man amnesia. In that you see the obvious flaws in a write-up in your area of expertise quickly, here you see the rationale for a seemingly strange choice.
Someone moving to Vancouver from Thane is a ~12K km journey. Inconceivable distance. If one looks at it from a distance POV it might look like a surprising choice. But it becomes the only or among the obvious choices for someone with my priors.
We are excited to announce that Sarvam is partnering with @PixxelSpace to power the AI backbone of India's first orbital data centre satellite.
This is a first for the country, with India-built AI models running on an India-built satellite and both training and inference happening directly in orbit, without any dependence on foreign cloud or ground infrastructure.
one of the most refreshing things on the planet is talking to someone who just *gets it*.
like you donโt need a preamble, & you donโt need to articulate the shape of the thought before you can share it cuz they just meet you where you already are. as if they skimmed your mind & married to the culture before you say a single word.
these people are rare, & conversations with them are incredible because you skip the surface layer entirely & land in the depth almost immediately. theyโre the best ppl to riff with, ideate with, & think forward with.. the bandwidth is wide & already open.
this is true for any type of relationship.
Is there a meta ep of the Conversations with @tylercowen pod where Tyler explains how he comes up with his questions?
"Why is high water pressure in a shower important?" was such an unexpected question to ask the creator of Craig's list but still so interesting!
Seeing a suspicious number of posts from Tesla users praising specific edge cases where the FSD does well. I'm all for autonomous driving though so good to see it make progress!
Conversely, also why a confident, high-agency, but aloof person from India might stand out in ๐จ๐ฆ. They might employ the 'screaming & blustering' approach when DPV is what is needed.
Just as DPV doesnโt work in India, bluster doesnโt work in Canada.
The, 'Dangerous Professional voice' etc. only works in societies with established norms, checks and balances, and a rule of law.
Family/friends chide my 'dangerous professional voice' (DPV) approach in India because it doesn't work there.
This reminds me of the time Southwest Airlines oversold our flight and put 2 of my kids on standby. Then they asked for volunteers to give up their spots for $2500 each, so we accepted their offer.
After the flight left without us, they claimed that they never should have made us the $2500 offer because they actually needed 2 *other* people to accept it so our family could get on our flight. They handed me much smaller vouchers to sign and I was like lol no.
So they tried to argue the definition of voluntary vs involuntary with me. I was like cool story give me your badge number to attach to this DOT complaint Iโm about to file about your attempt to renege on our contract, violating DOT regulations.
This lead to multiple levels of escalation and to each person I said please give me your badge number to attach to this DOT complaint. While they were radioing the next guy up the chain I said okay Iโm going to go sit over there and Iโll wait for you to page me when you have resolved this situation in a satisfactory fashion.
The entire time, I was extremely calm and used my Dangerous Professional voice. (h/t @patio11)
Ended up with multiples of the original promised amount + inconvenience compensation + customer service reached out with more vouchers.
