You've probably heard the theory that em dashes mean someone has used AI.
AP Stylebook Editor Anna Jo Bratton disagrees in a blog post that acknowledges it would be helpful to have a clear and obvious tell when AI is the author. She writes: Unfortunately, that tell is not the em dash, which has been around for many years. In fact, they are so ubiquitous in AP lingo, we just call them dashes.
