Win rate without payoff is trivia.
40% wins at a 2R average winner:
(0.40 × 2R) − (0.60 × 1R) = +0.20R per trade.
60% wins at a 0.5R average winner:
(0.60 × 0.5R) − (0.40 × 1R) = −0.10R per trade.
A lower win rate can have the better edge. Track both.
What to improve next
The best journal doesn’t produce a hundred statistics and leave you guessing.
It should help answer:
What is the single repeated mistake or weak setup costing me the most?

That gives you something concrete to change.
Most traders use a journal as a record of their wins and losses.
That misses its real value.
A good trading journal shows you whether your strategy actually works—and which of your own behaviours are quietly destroying it.
Here are 7 things it can reveal 🧵
Your risk consistency
Two trades risking different amounts shouldn’t be judged only by dollars.
Recording results in R-multiples makes trades comparable:
Risk $100, make $200 = +2R
Risk $50, lose $50 = −1R

Serious question: do you actually know your win rate? Not your guess — the real number, across your last 50 trades. The gap between what traders think it is and what it is would shock you
Will we see a turnaround here?
BTC has been in a clean downtrend since the signal fired on the 6H — dropped from $82K all the way to $60K.
Small bounce starting now but still well below the band.
Hard to call a reversal until price reclaims that zone. Watching closely.
Trend flipped down on May 15 at $80k. Gold cloud, price rejected underneath it the entire way down. Now sitting at $63k — that's a 21% drop from the signal.
The signs were there. The trend said down.

"FuturesEdge — I built it because TradeZella and the others don't properly support Bybit/OKX/Bitget CSVs. The hour-of-day heatmap is one of the views I use most. Full disclosure I'm the one who made it, but it's what I actually use for my own trades: https://t.co/yww4E4CpDn"
"Tagged my last 200 trades with the actual reason I entered. 'Plan + confirmation' trades: +X 'FOMO chase' trades: -X 'Revenge after a loss' trades: -X The leak isn't my system. It's me, when I break my own rules. Couldn't unsee it after the data showed up."
Win rate when focused: 71% Win rate when revenge-trading: 32%
