One segment in this story... Could this be the difference that translates to more wins?
Buying into the Frost Culture
One of Frost’s biggest focuses has been culture-building. He brought back “The Program,” a leadership and team-building exercise used during his first stint at UCF, and has stressed accountability, unity, and trust.
Players say they’ve bought in. They appreciate Frost’s approachable demeanor off the field and his intensity on it. Several noted they feel comfortable going directly to him with concerns, something not always the case with head coaches.
One returning player, when asked to compare this camp to last year, said the difference in team morale is night and day. Last year, players recalled feeling worn down and drained, whereas this camp has been marked by energy, positivity and excitement for the season ahead.
And in another interview, offensive lineman Keegan Smith outlined why this team is going to give their all for Frost.
“I’ll tell you right now, Coach Frost is one of the boys,” Smith said. “He cares about us more than anyone I’ve ever been around, and I really appreciate that.
“When you’ve got a coach like that who’s got your back, you play harder and faster. We’re playing free because there’s no hesitation.
“We’re not walking on eggshells around him. We’re comfortable, we can go talk to him, and that makes us want to fight for him. When you’ve got a head coach like that, you’ll leave it all on the field.”
