BREAKING: After 3 Hours of debate, HB26-1281 narrowly passes the House on third reading..

This bill lowers the penalty for murder in cases of "extreme indifference" with some exceptions...

Before this bill takes effect, a person can be charged with first degree murder "when an individual knowingly engages in conduct with an attitude of universal malice manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life generally that creates a grave risk of death to a person or persons, and which conduct causes the death of another person."

For example, someone shoots into a crowd or randomly kills someone by acting in "extreme indifference" to human life.

After this bill takes effect, to be found guilty of First Degree Murder caused by "extreme indifference," a criminal would have to kill "more than one person, a child under 12, a first responder," or kill "one person and also cause serious bodily injury to two of more persons by means of a deadly weapon."

Otherwise, just killing one person with "extreme indifference" will only result in Second Degree Murder...

That's right, literal murderers will have lower penalties thanks to Colorado House Democrats...

The court even caught the Bar lying,

A: “By its own admission, the Bar misidentified or failed to include multiple exhibits it claims to have relied on in its Second Amended Response,”

B: “The deficiencies go far beyond mislabeling exhibits.”

C: “The Bar not only failed to cite to or argue about any additional documents — the documents are not mentioned at all.”
