@dpouliot Also, there's another modifying "participial phrase" with "crashing like 10,000 tiny bells" that also describes the noun "wave" so the appositive and participial phrases overlap each other. Hope this helps. Happy writing!
@dpouliot You're using an elegant construct and I like the poetry of it. Adjectives are always better than adverbs. The modifiers usually follow the noun directly, though. Look up "appositive phrases" for details.
