@AnneLParrish I've heard a novel described as an easy way to write a short story. That being said, two of the best short story writers ever, Harlan Ellison and Ray Bradbury, were not all that great at novels.
@joelansdale It's only now, years after I made that image, months after hanging it on the wall, and (of course) after showing the line to the guy who wrote it, that I realize I got the quote wrong.

@boxbrown Others have said it, but it's because they book too may appointments. If your doc is part of a hospital service, as opposed to a private practice, the hospital dictates how many patient they must see and bill for every day, or get fired.
