@spskelton No one should dismiss English Wine - still or sparkling- made over clay soils. But for the very finest champagnes, eg Cristal 2014 miraculous white chalk is paramount to its supremacy in the plots of the Cristal Estate (top sites). Black Chalk E Hampshire Wow! Hymn to chalk.
