@Mikel_Jollett Man. I can see how it would be such a different narrative if someone’s in a bubble where every Dem they talk to was meh about Biden *before* the debate than if they’re in an excited bubble.
First coed soccer game in masks due to the mandate. And it was FINE. Makes me so frustrated with all the gym owners whining about it. It was fine. Not a problem. Just wear the masks.
The binary nature of the reaction to Covid right now is frustrating. Does the trajectory seem to be heading towards “we have enough treatments, live with it”? Yes. But it also wouldn’t kill folks to chill for another month while we weather this surge.
I get a bit of whiplash from Portland politics. We’re debating having a higher minimum wage than NYC or San Fran. But it took ages to get mask mandates and we aren’t even talking about the vaccine mandates places like Philly had months ago.
The larger of the small humans is building legos without supervision. He’s…. Not… requiring…. Any… parental…. Effort…. This is amazing. Trying to remember if I had hobbies pre-kids.
When you refactor a bunch of code because you didn’t think it was organized very well among services and it turns out all the tests are mock based and basically say “assertNoOneHasRefactoredThisCode()” (not on purpose, just seems like that’s every mock test ever).
Like shovel in code to meet the done criteria on the ticket and what I think of as software development aren’t even the same career, let alone the same job title.
I don’t know how to get out of the cycle of too many devs who either don’t care about tech debt, don’t have the skills to handle tech debt or are being yelled at by PO/scrum master to ignore tech debt. It always comes down to one or two guys picking up the pieces if you’re lucky.
At the very least if the answer is we just have these guys who really care about the building not falling down then 1: you have to actually have one of those guys per team. 2: that’s a different (much harder) job. Acknowledge it and pay appropriately.
@jclmorgan +1 on lost the plot. Feels like half the country is “Call it. Covid won. let’s make out with strangers” and the other half is “here we go again, I’ll see everyone in a month or two”.
@GarrettQuinn But wouldn’t that give cover to the businesses that are already requiring vaccines? Seems like it’s a lot harder to enforce if only one or two bars require them.
Got a Walgreens PCR test (just to be safe after traveling). “It’s usually 3-5 days for a result but may be longer due to holidays”. I don’t understand the use case of 5 day Covid test result.
