Imagine your grandmother.
Pretend she is a sincere follower of Benny Hinn. She’s struggling since retirement and living off a fixed income. She regularly donates to church as well as Benny Hinn.
But the bills are piling up. Not all of her needed medications are covered by insurance so she has $500 a month in additional expenses that she never planned on. She’s already in debt and in fear of losing her home. Then she watches today’s message from wonderful pastor Benny.
He tells her that the way to get out of debt is to give. She’s already been giving so the only thing left is to just give all that she has. Maybe that will do the trick. She recalls a message not long ago when Benny told her that he was majorly in debt and gave everything his ministry had in the bank to other ministries. And within six months he was out of debt. The implication was clear. She needs an act of faith!!
She gives every last penny to Benny.
But Benny was lying about giving and distorting a proper view of God’s provision. So she goes bankrupt and loses her home. She can’t afford her meds and she dies.

Last week at UNLV I was asked why I’m a Christian and if I believe the Bible by a guy wearing a pentagram shirt thinking it would show people Satan. The video has gone viral and now at least 10 million people have seen it and heard the gospel because of it. Hopefully the interaction helped him too, but I know for sure it has helped others.

”Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.“
// John 13:1
And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.“
// Matthew 26:26-28
”Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it. And giving it to the disciples, He said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
// Matthew 26:26-28
Penal substitution is the central theme of the atonement.
Christ became a curse of the Law of God for us. He paid for the judgment we deserve. Dying in our place. For our sins.
God the Father treated Christ as if He were a sinner & had Him die as a substitute to pay the penalty for the sins of all who believe in Him. He did not become a sinner, but remained holy. The wrath of God was exhausted on Him & the requirement of God's law was met. Hallelujah.
'All that I have I share with you.' That is the great marriage swap of the gospel. Our great Bridegroom has taken all our sin, our death, our judgment; and he has shared with us all his perfect righteousness. He takes our sin; we take his righteousness.
