At lunchtime, I celebrated a wonderful Ash Wednesday Mass in a packed chapel @loretocollege@LoretoChaplain.
Wishing everyone a blessed Lent.

A real *pinch me* moment as I was invited to address the United Nations to discuss youth political participation 🇺🇳
Delighted that @mylifemysay have partnered with the @UNYouthAffairs as their U.K. “Be Seen, Be Heard” campaign partners.
16 year old Dan wouldn’t believe it.
"Labour’s commitment to “pause and review” Tory plans to scrap more than 100 popular qualifications, including BTecs, has been translated – now they are in power – into a secretive internal process..." Superb from @SusannaRustin#ProtectStudentChoice https://t.co/diat11q3NF
Welcome back #UpperSixth!! It's great to have you back, don't forget we're up in B122, ready with the hot drinks and warm welcome. Looking forward to seeing you!

There is a chance that 455 school and college leaders (that educate 388,000 16 to 19 year olds) are wrong and ministers are right. But they at least deserved a response that addressed their request for a pause to defunding. #ProtectStudentChoice@Jacqui_Smith1
Great to hear @kristianj23's report on @BBCr4today this morning. It's insulting to hear DfE's response that its review is bringing certainty to the sector when we don't know what courses we can offer to vocational students *next year*. #protectstudentchoice
455 school and college leaders have written to @bphillipsonMP urging her to pause the plan to defund applied general qualifications such as BTECs. @Jacqui_Smith1#ProtectStudentChoice First 4 pages below - too many signatures to tweet!
29 years after I enrolled at @loretocollege I feel a bit emotional seeing my middle son do the same today.
Loreto College sparked many important friendships and things for me.
It’s where I met my now husband, where Mrs Harris (below) cemented my passion for politics, where peers cemented my love for clubbing, and where I was pushed by my teachers to apply to Oxford University to study law, and to thereby venture way outside of my comfort zone and Manchester circles into what felt like another world.
The Pilgrimage for Margaret Clitherow on Bank Holiday Monday venerates her Relic. There will be prayers at Bar Convent Chapel at 10.30 a procession, 10.45 with the statue of Margaret to Ouse Bridge, the place of her execution, the Shambles, stopping at the house where she lived.
Young people receiving results should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved.
Whether it's university, training or work there's loads of support available for their next steps.
It's my mission to break down barriers to opportunity so all our young people can thrive.
How fab is this! Former head boy at @cchsouthmcr Christian and now one of our subject ambassadors, bumps into two of his former teachers, during our first Year 10 Taster Day. 😀
