I NEED TO UNDERSTAND

I want to make something very clear.

I’m not against any political party. I’m not trying to attack individuals. I’m not interested in left versus right.

I’m simply trying to understand how Australia got to where it is today.

If you think I’m wrong about something, please tell me. I am an open book. If I’m missing something, help me see what I can’t see.

Everything I publish is independently sourced and fact-checked before I post it. If I ever get something wrong, I will correct it publicly and apologise. I’m not interested in pushing misinformation. I’m interested in following the evidence, wherever it leads.

My research isn’t just about unions. It’s about political parties, donors, lobbyists, government policy and the systems that influence the decisions affecting every Australian. I don’t begin with a conclusion and then look for evidence to support it. I start with questions and follow the facts.

The reason I started looking was personal.

For almost ten years I have tried to communicate with the Western Australian Government. Despite the work we’ve been doing, I have never been able to understand why my calls and emails have gone unanswered.

Shalom House is a 100% self-funded, accredited, outcomes-based rehabilitation program. We receive no government grants or funding, yet we support around 160 residents, men, women and children and don’t cost taxpayers a single cent.

Along the way we have faced years of legal battles, planning issues and obstacles that, from my perspective, made it increasingly difficult to continue expanding a program that changes lives every day.

Those experiences led me to ask one simple question.

Why?

The deeper I looked, the more I realised that understanding government isn’t just about politics. It’s about incentives, influence, money, power and how decisions are made.

After personally spending 26 years in and out of prisons, institutions, children’s homes and on the streets, followed by the last 25 years rebuilding my own life and helping others rebuild theirs, I believe I have finally started to understand why our systems continue producing the same outcomes, generation after generation.

I don’t claim to know everything. I don’t have all the answers. But I do know what I’ve lived, what I’ve built and what I’ve witnessed.

I’m not asking governments for money.

I’m asking for the ability to plan ahead so we can keep helping people.

I don’t want to belong to a political party. I don’t want to play political games. I simply want to understand why effective solutions are so often ignored.

Whether you agree with my conclusions is entirely your choice.

All I ask is that you judge what I publish on the quality of the evidence, not on whether it challenges your existing beliefs.

If I’m wrong, I’ll say so.

If I’m right, then perhaps together we can begin asking better questions.

The only way the information that I post will get out there is if you share it, I am too busy.
