This morning, during Holy Mass at the Mapeera Chapel, Rev. Fr. Raymond Kalanzi offered a special blessing for our new Managing Director, Godfrey Byekwaso, as he continues in his leadership journey.

In his remarks, MD Godfrey expressed gratitude to the Board, management, and staff for the confidence placed in him, encouraging everyone to embrace the Bank's next chapter with faith and confidence.

"Don't doubt yourself. Believe in yourself. Everything is possible," he said, expressing optimism about the future and the Bank's continued pursuit of excellence.

The Bank also contributed UGX 20 million to Teresa Ministries Uganda , the contribution will support the purchase of land to secure a permanent home for Teresa Babies Home, Nsambya, ensuring a safe and sustainable environment for the children under its care.

Yesterday marked a significant leadership transition with the official handover from Fabian Kasi to Godfrey Byekwaso as Managing Director.

The occasion celebrated Fabian Kasi's remarkable 16 years of dedicated leadership, during which it strengthened our position as Uganda's leading indigenous bank, expanded financial inclusion, and transformed millions of lives through innovative and customer-focused banking solutions.

As Fabian hands over the reins, we begin a new chapter under the leadership of MD Godfrey Byekwaso. Building on a strong legacy of trust, excellence, and innovation, the we look forward to the vision, leadership, and fresh perspectives he will bring as it continues to empower communities and deliver exceptional value to its customers.

"Sustainability is about replenishing, not just extracting," expressed Michael Opira, our Executive Director Operations, during a panel discussion at the 101st DCA for @rotaryd9214, titled "Service at the Intersection of Business and Humanity: Building Companies that Serve Markets and Communities." Here are some key takeaways he shared:

1. Businesses can serve both the community and organisation, and that's how it should be. Long-term success depends on nurturing what you rely on: like a farmer caring for soil, companies that invest in people, resources, and communities build stronger, more lasting returns. If we talk about humanity, we're also talking about sustainability.

2. Company leaders should adopt a stewardship mindset: ensure inclusivity and fairness; lead with empathy and accountability, focus on long-term sustainability by balancing profitability with ethical governance and environmental responsibility; and embrace inclusive, adaptive innovation through accessible solutions that meet people where they are, especially underserved populations. 

3. Concerns companies ought to focus on: the focus shouldn't only be about profit - embed impact into the core business, not just CSR, co-create solutions with communities, invest in education and capacity building with focus on areas like financial literacy, and prioritise partnerships and localised approaches.

Today we joined Buganda Kingdom and partners at Bulange Mengo for the official launch of the 2026 Masaza Cup. For the twelfth year running, we are part of the tournament as key sponsors, having contributed over UGX 2 billion towards the tournament over the years, including UGX 200 million for this year's edition.
