Mike Piper joins me on the "Bogheheads on Investing" podcast to discuss what to do if named as the Executor of an estate, with special emphasis on surviving spouses.
This is critical information we often avoid thinking about! @bogleheads@michaelrpiper

Not everyone who wants to attend a @bogleheads conference can afford to, which is why we hire a professional crew to videotape all of the sessions. I'm proud to announce that you can now view EVERY conference session via the Bogle Center's website. Enjoy! https://t.co/Nh5mPHDiPa
@PHXTJ@AdviserCounsel@TR401@BudgetsAreSexy If donor specified to give to a specific individual then yes there'd likely be problems. But if the goal is to give to, eg, "low-income individuals" (and the donor is not selecting), then I do not see a problem. Outside of the IRA concept, this is already what many charities do.
Favor request:
A person I know is looking to donate to a 501(c)(3) that gives money to young people of limited means, so they can start investing (e.g., "Here's $1,000 to open your first Roth IRA.").
I have not yet found an org that does that.
Do you know of one?
@AdviserCounsel@TR401 Thank you. That's a good point about the possibility of an existing org being willing to implement a new program.
And I am also not super confident that there's an organization that already does exactly this.
@TR401@AdviserCounsel Thank you both for the suggestions. My understanding of this person's goal is that the focus be on directly giving money, rather than on educational efforts.
@KerosSotirios So in your example, since it hasn't been two years, the ex-wife must have filed for her own retirement benefit in order for the ex-husband to file for a spousal benefit on her work record. (Whether she has reached FRA or not does not matter here.)
@KerosSotirios The 2-year rule is an exception to the "SpouseA must have filed in order for SpouseB to get a spousal benefit on SpouseA's work record" rule.

I voted last week. Yes I was voting against Trump.
But I was very much voting FOR Harris.
Thrilled to vote for a person with experience in the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government. A normal person with empathy who is genuinely seeking to serve.
I don’t see this presidential election as a choice between Harris and Trump. I see it as referendum on Trump, and Harris just happens to be the Democratic on the ballot. Votes for Harris are not votes for Harris, they’re votes against Trump.
I've become a huge evangelist for people loosening the purse strings earlier in their retirements, thanks to the work of @michaelrpiper and my own personal story. 👇

If you think this is a net-benefit to humanity, rather than a refinement of the already-weaponized engagement algo, you’re worried about the wrong things in AI.
Not as a Meta investor, but as a human being in the USA, did you actually think “Gosh, what would make this world better is an 8% increase int he amount of people spend staring at algo driven social media!”
Shocker: The CEO of @Intuit (owner of TurboTax) doesn’t want you to know that they're lobbying to make your life harder – so much so that they asked a podcast to delete part of his interview.
Give me a break.
Whether he likes it or not, the IRS is expanding free Direct File.
Here's my message to young people: you wouldn't let a bunch of old people decide what music you're going to listen to or what clothes you're going to wear – so don't let them decide your future.
