Are we trapped in a simulation, like the Matrix?

How much of what we do online and in real life is what we actually want to do, or is our behaviour shaped by external influences and controls?

The Truman Show, in the late 90s, managed to brilliantly, yet unintentionally, predict and warn the world of what was to come.

In the movie, 5,000 hidden cameras monitored Truman's every move, and a production company scripted his life.

Now, online and social media track your every keystroke, search, and reply, and the further intrusion of AI on devices.

On social media like X, our behaviour is largely influenced by algorithms, payments and other external controls.

We stick with “safe” but repetitive content and interact with the same safe accounts despite the vast number of others available.

Soon, we avoid experimenting or trying out new ideas.

Creating authentic content and building real relationships give way to performative actions that appease the algorithms and metrics.

The first step to escaping the simulation is recognising what is happening.

Notice what we are doing that is being influenced, whether we are actually making choices.

The “glitches” give us clues to what is happening, so pay close attention to these.

Recognise our own limiting beliefs that are stopping us from moving forward.

How different is your Online Self from your Real Self?

Have you remained Authentic while building an online persona or brand?
Are you still relevant, or has the constant demand to deliver content led to a drop in quality or selling out?

Are you being seen online, or does the algorithm ghost you?
Has the environment changed, and you haven't?

Shortcuts and quick fixes may seem appealing, but don’t deliver lasting results.

A number of accounts have achieved rocket-like success, though seeming a little too fast.
Many are now floundering, citing demonetization and reduced views.

They were very good at playing the game until the rules changed.

If what you have been doing is no longer working.

Then it's time to pull back, drop the online persona and reconnect with your Real Self.
Confront what's not working and the changing environment head-on.

Step back, reassess the situation, and clarity will eventually come.
When things become clear, new ideas and solutions emerge.

In a constantly changing environment, the ability to adjust and pivot in new ways and directions is a super strength.

Reinventing yourself or just getting much better at what you're doing, levelling up, boosts your relevance and lets you rebound with a new vitality.

Remember, in an AI world, originality, authenticity, and being real are underrated potent strengths.

With clarity and a new game plan, you get to experience:

a new day,
new ideas,

Get everything you need done.
Put everything in place.

It does not necessarily mean
it will happen right away.

Sometimes you have to wait.
For everything to line up.

It's quite extraordinary.
I've seen some small, fairly new accounts go viral recently, and they're pushing articles.
It's confident, so I think someone experienced on X may have created a second account.

There is no one way.

When things aren't going well.
And you're feeling like you're not winning.
Understand that there is no one way.

Don't be fooled by those who tell you there's only one way to get something done.
There's always more than one way of doing things.

So if you wanna conquer life's obstacles
and be the best you can be,
You need to learn more than one discipline.

You need to know more than one way of doing things.
Sometimes it takes a while to realise this.

And just because something worked for someone else
doesn't mean it will work for you.

Find what works for you.
Start being the strongest version of yourself.

And in life, you usually get a second chance.

It's the journey we need to take.

The penguin matters because there comes a time when we will all face a crossroads.

Then we have to choose
whether to stay with the colony or
venture out alone, heading towards the mountains.

We can stay in one place,
follow what others are doing, and fit in.

Or we can forge our own path,
do what we dreamed of doing,
and become who we hoped to be.

There will be no guarantees,
no promises of success,
just that a difficult journey lies ahead.

The penguin video isn’t new.
It appeared almost 20 years ago,
in Werner Herzog's 2007 documentary "Encounters at the End of the World".

Herzog’s documentary didn’t romanticise the penguins' behaviour, but presented nature as it is in the harsh environment.
He simply asks, “But why?”

The video resonates because life is getting harder
due to the rising cost of living,
highly volatile markets and crypto,
or even trying to succeed on social media like X.

Life can feel like a gruelling battle when we aren’t winning, just surviving another day.

We don’t need to know what happened to the penguin all those years ago.

What we do know is that he saw the mountains
and heard their call,
and he left the safety of the colony and headed towards them.

Twenty years later, people are still talking about him, reposting his video,
wondering about him,
and in awe of his independence, audacity,
and adventurous spirit.

That’s an extraordinary achievement for a little penguin, whose journey was captured on film.

He lives on because he dared to follow his own path.

If it's not going well.
Find out what you need to change or improve.
