This will take some getting used to.
Athletics will swap places with swimming at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and take place over the opening week of the Games.
The marathons will remain on the final weekend.
@ciaranmullooly @BordnaMona @ciaranmullooly Agree 100% Ciaran. Great people and great company in its peat era. Can be great for the future too but the learnings and knowledge of those who made the peat businesses must be embraced for future success
@BrophShane Agree Shane but Westmeath Antrim and D2a winner continue to get blown away. Those 3 should be in the same section with 3 others and bottom goes down. Never a worry for any of top 8 teams
This is ridiculous. 1a should be top 6 in country. Give Laois and Westmeath plus Antrim and or Kildare/Offaly competitive games in 1b and build hurling base
If 1A consisted top 6 ranked and 1B 7 to 12, then Laois, Westmeath and Antrim could have 2 competitive games instead of these massacres. Relegate bottom after the 5 games and promote 2A winner. Top 1B play semifinal v 2nd in 1A and promoted for next year replacing bottom 1A
Solution to the hurling league on league Sunday was to do away with the semi finals.
Not one mention that none of the big teams can get relegated which is the clear and very obvious problem with it 🙈
Robbie Kiely was a terrific footballer. Steps away from Tipp seniors with a Munster U21 medal & a senior medal won on that never to be forgotten day in November 2020. Gave his all on the field & travelled up from West Cork, often 3 times a week for training. Some commitment 🏐👍
Which two clubs from adjoining counties are closest to each other?
I do not know the answer btw.
However, the low number so far is 1.6 miles (Graiguecullen to O'Hanrahans).
@michaeltipp Not sure about that either - Division 2 for instance often sees teams who don't win much other silverware, or it's a springboard to something else.
@michaeltipp Exactly. On a hurling front I've been at many finals across the grades over the years inc div 3B. While hurling has a fair championship structure it's still great to have the league finals. Seen some epic finals with the likes of Armagh, Donegal and Longford hurlers + many more
I agree fully Cōilìn. A look at in particular D3 and D4 finalists for last 10 years. How many of them have won a provincial football title over last 20 years
Again the GAA is looking towards top tier counties with the suggestion to scrap the League finals. Also again it's looking towards Football rather than Hurling. Having league finals for all Divisions gave realistic aspirations for all to claim national silverware. #gaa
Have covered over 200 international sporting events. Have I enjoyed one more than 2022 European Championships? Nope. Great @RTEsport team of pros through all sports & a wee nod to my commentary box colleagues @ConMurphySport and @DavidMatthews2. It actually really was emotional…
@Darrenfrehill Darren superb tracks and trails tonight. As native of Portroe in Tipp now residing in Westmeath great to see few places M Cross; Graves of L etc. Very well done
Let this year JMC winner into Munster. From next year bottom in Munster v Bottom in Leinster loser relegated. JMC winner up. It will bring extra county to higher level and what matter if at times the 6th Munster county is from Leinster or Ulster.
The Munster Hurling Championship was designed to keep Kerry out of it.
Just do away with the silly Play Off and make it a six team league.
They’ve earned the right.
