Being an L1 that is often overlooked, this veteran continues to punch above its weight.

Since 2015, @iota has focused on bridging real-world utility and integrating legacy systems on-chain, never stopping its development.

The launch of IOTA EVM recently, brought programmability and developer accessibility to the ecosystem, but this is far from the last step of its smart contract ecosystem.

The next phase, IOTA Rebased, sets to bring IOTA to new heights in both programmability and scaleability.

MoveVM smart contracts can also be run on the Parallelized Layer 1 of IOTA, while the IOTA EVM remains on Layer 2. This allows for:

- Support for both EVM & Move developers
- Access to the existing Ethereum ecosystem,
- Security and resource efficiency for future-forward applications with MoveVM

With this dual smart contract ecosystem, IOTA is able to deliver strong current performance with long-term adaptability. More builders will be able to join the IOTA ecosystem regardless of whether they are EVM or MoveVM native. With these technology additions, IOTA is able to stand on its own against newer L1s such as SUI.

The L1 of IOTA rebased also delivers:

- Extremely low fees, adaptive fee burning to balance inflation and deflation and even sponsored transactions
- High staking yield of 10-15% APY
- Complete decentralization with a new Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) system and 150 permissionless validators
- 50,000+ TPS and sub-second finality from using the Mysticeti consensus protocol

With such powerful infrastructure, IOTA is ready to deliver on real-world utility across multiple sectors such as trade, logistics, real-world assets (RWA), Islamic finance, and digital identity. In fact, IOTA's use cases are already being practised in the real world.

With regards to the trade industry, a trade and logistics platform running on the IOTA mainnet is already live in Kenya. The Trade Worldwide Information Network (TWIN) is also expected to be developed on IOTA, expanding its role in global trade, to make it faster and fairer.

Whereas for RWA Institutional Adoption, collaboration with the Abu Dhabi-based company Realize to launch tokenized U.S. Treasuries on-chain has already begun.

Last but not least, diving into the tokenomics, 80% of $IOTA tokens are already in circulation. The remaining 20% will be distributed over the next 3 years, ensuring a controlled token supply and long-term market stability.

Unlike other MoveVM competitors, IOTA has no large VC unlocks pending. Whereas with SUI at 32.5% and Aptos at 52.7% of their circulating supply, the same cannot be said for them.

Overall, IOTA is on track to being a strong competitor in the current L1 space with its constant innovation. White the current L1 space is said to be saturated, there are few L1s that have managed to garner any real-world usage, with the exception of the current majors such as ETH or SOL.

Being a veteran in the space, IOTA has the experience as well as the connections to not only continue its current collaborations, but also to forge new partnerships in the future. This will further drive adoption for the L1. Hence, it might be beneficial to keep an eye out for them.
