Thank you @nytimes for highlighting our Eviction Diversion Program as a national model!
Diversion works. The vast majority of renters and landlords who completed mediation were able to reach an agreement that avoided eviction.

nice piece by @arenica2 on the responsibilities of scientist in Peru: Comunicación, humildad, autocrítica e integridad https://t.co/bw85Mzf3FT via @Pata Amarilla
Read about how @ricardocasney's team vaccinated 16,000 dogs in an attempt to slow the Rabies epidemic in Arequipa, Peru. Both Rabies and Covid cases continue to climb in the city. Need to scale up these small vaccination kiosks quickly
Reggaeton, algorithms, and mobile clinics! I wrote about how one Penn epidemiologist and a team of dedicated field workers managed to vaccinate 16,000 dogs in Arequipa, Peru, against rabies -- during a global pandemic.

And here are numbers from #upenn. With 388 cases in isolation only 654 contacts quarantined. Either things are *highly* clustered or we're not quarantining fast enough. Not sure if variants have been detected. perhaps @RickBushman knows.
I know there wont be a clear day, and I'll still nervous to celebrate--there's nothing harder than predicting the end of an epidemic--but i'm going to start planning now. Because it will help to know it's coming to skip things in the coming months.
Looking forward to celebrating everything we missed simultaneously sometime in 2021.
there will be candy, prayers, sweet potatoes, presents, remembrances all at once. The best thing about everythingwemissedday: schools will be open.
@JSEllenberg Rereading this the line I think we really got wrong: "The next round of social distancing will be activated more rapidly, because officials — and the public — will be more prepared"
Re Philly % positive calculations: Its a missing data problem. Some labs haven't yet reported negative tests. Thanks @PHLPublicHealth for explaining. They expect to be caught up in four days at which time the issue should be fixed.
fyi @PHLPublicHealth underreporting % positive. Why? Heres a screenshot for one day: 480 positive / 480+4324 negative ~=10% but site says 7.5%. All days seem to be off.

At today's Council meeting, I discussed the Housing Committee meeting yesterday and everything that's on the line as we consider amendments to the Emergency Housing Protection Act, and an extension of the eviction moratorium in particular. (thread)
