I slept uneasily and erratically last night. I got up a couple times, even turned on the TV, and checked in here.
This was a different unease than the unease I had the day before. Last night's unease was less about the election results, and less about foreboding what changes and other nonsense are to come.
I was more uneasy about us, and about how we are interacting. Because we ARE the resistors, now more than ever, and we ARE stronger together. And we're shell-shocked and must not capitulate to behavior that works against us, and our efforts.
My thoughts got organized, and when I finally went back to bed, I slept deeply, and I awoke feeling good - or let me qualify that and say - I awoke feeling somewhat better, with a little more clarity.

What I realized, what gave me a small amount of comfort, was being able to see "the order" of what we need to do. I'm going to share it, and some won't be ready to hear it, or they'll hear it, but it won't yet resonate.
Everyone is concerned. Trump himself is a black hole. I won't understate this. Things we fear, are now more possible. Going backward, is terrifying. But while some of this will come to pass, some of it won't, and some will - but to a lesser degree than we feared. Our resistance and togetherness influences this. And it's the need to preserve democracy that is paramount.

Elections in the US are done by state, and the shift we saw was broad, across the board. The need to explain it is real. The need to learn from it, is crucial. The disinformation that led to it, continues and will ratchet.
But the thing about disinformation, is that it breeds more disinformation.
This tweet was a long set up to suggest that we move past the disbelief, the despair, and the futility.

What we saw happen, DID happen. Put aside disbelief.
What we fear now, is not the loss of social services or deportations, etc. We fear the unexpected and the chaos and the circus. Put aside the despair.
There are still institutions, hobbled as they may be. We are in a minority, but it's a large minority. It has power. Futility gives power to THEM, the majority. Put aside the futility.
Stay sane, stay real, stay here on the platform, stay in the resistance, and get ready to resist.
Move past the disbelief, the despair, and the futility - as best you can, as quickly as you can.
We're not alone. We're not powerless. Not even close.
