National Sorry Day &many still ask “Why should I apologise?”
Because when you validate the pain of victims the weight becomes less.
Because being compassionate to others speaks to who you are.
I express my sorrow for the pain & trauma ppl have experienced every day.
I see the relief.
I see the pain reduce because they are validated & believed.
When you deny, minimise or ignore pain it festers. It compounds the initial act.
Saying sorry doesn’t mean you are personally responsible it’s means you have empathy. You have kindness and compassion.

@drcwatego Love this thread and couldn't agree more. I believe we can be the most "tolerant", generous and inclusive. Usually in the face of some pretty ugly behaviour by those lacking a strong cultural identity.
