So let me get this straight, I am meant to work from home if I can, due to high transmission levels, but my 6 year old is to attend school face to face. What am I missing here? If it’s not safe for me to be in my workplace, why is it safe for unvaxxed kids to be at school?
@DanielAndrewsMP please explain why in Victoria we still have no new born screening for SMA when this is now available to new parents/babies in other states. Not good enough. #dobetter
@Mon4Kooyong Yes it should be scrapped. All children should have access to high quality early learning. There are many reasons why people might need care for their children or simply see a benefit in it regardless of their work hours. This should be considered no differently to public school.
@Mon4Kooyong All advice must be made public. Surely decisions aren’t based on the advice of one individual? These puppet politicians need to be held accountable for decisions that create higher risk for our health, businesses and the economy. Who is pulling the strings here?
@RACGPPresident@PerpetualWinger@RACGP@ama_media Telehealth is one of the silver linings of the whole pandemic. It should become a permanent fixture of our Health system. It’s been a massive benefit for us.
@Mon4Kooyong Surely we know enough to understand transmission reduction is critical? Who is pulling the strings on these puppet politicians of ours? Removing mitigations makes no sense for our health, businesses or economy. Is some perceived popularity the end game here? I don’t get it.🤷♀️
@JoshButler@RichmdSewerRat So grateful to have @Mon4Kooyong representing us. It’s refreshing to have a representative who actually makes some sense. Ridiculous move by NC and the basis for this decision must be explained.
@aparachick@LauraMiers@donnaciccia I have been so careful & after 2.5 yrs avoiding it I have caught covid while travelling os for work. Unless there’s broad change, where everyone takes precautions it’s damaging to pretend that we can fulfil work commitments, have kids in school etc & continue to avoid this virus.
@ParentMishmash@MeetJess@RichmdSewerRat Yes of course I had to take it off briefly to eat and drink during that time. Really not possible for me not to. I did the best I could but I think when travelling long haul now this is the risk we are forced to accept.
@Z_Man_NOLA@MeetJess@RichmdSewerRat Yes it sucks. I’m worried I’ve passed it to my little ones now. I avoided it in my own household when my son got it at school & gave it to my IC husband 6 wks ago, also avoided it when I travelled to Europe earlier this year, but I guess there’s only so long you can duck & weave.
I would love to know how to keep meeting work & school commitments and keep myself and my family safe. I clearly don’t know how to do it. This is not sustainable. I won’t be travelling again for work; it’s just not worth it. #CovidIsNotOver#COVID19#COVIDisAirborne#COVID19Aus
Well after 2 1/2 years of actively avoiding it - covid has finally caught me. I seem to have picked it up on the way home from a European business trip. Avoided it in my own home when my son bought it home from school 6 weeks ago, but despite 30 hours masking it’s got me.
@aparachick@MackayIM If this happens I think it’ll cement my thinking re moving to the country and homeschooling my kids. My immune compromised husband has now got his chronic disease flaring after one bout of covid recently after avoiding for 2.5yrs. Will be impossible to avoid if 5 day iso goes 😔
@TRyanGregory@_shelse_ Actually after having influenza for the first time in my life in May this year, I cannot believe that we are so flippant about it. I have literally never been so sick in my life and very scary for the little ones!!
@d__a_n_i_e__l_ @nicolethewestie@Dana_Adele@aishamae I thought hepa filters were the the answer until my son picked up covid from school (two teachers +ve in the room). Massive room and only 14 prep children. I’m crushed that he’s caught this & bought it home to immune compromised husband after actively avoiding it for 2.5yrs. 😔
@Mirella_PhD@RageSheen Broadening the advice is critical. It should never have been the case that NC is advised by one key medical advisor. Surely they can see that our pandemic response has been fragmented, inconsistent and is frankly not working. A co-ordinated response with clear goals required.
