RC should publish transcripts from the governing council meeting and provide evidence for why these exams are needed.... I feel awful for everyone dealing with this. There are enough things to stress over right now
@ALubeyMD@RichardLehman1 Absolutely agree. Kids, patients I’m concerned about COPD/Asthma and listening for a murmur in certain clinical situations tend to be the only times I pull out a steth these days
@MichaelChaikof This is a large group of very smart people. A reasonable “why” would go a long way! Help everyone understand. No one is saying that its easy. Nothing in medicine has been for the past 14+ months however we have all learned to pivot, be flexible and change our practice accordingly
I hope you will reconsider this decision. If not, I hope you will have the ability to help these individuals manage the burnout that they will certainly be experiencing before starting their independent practice. #residentwellness#burnout 2/2
@Royal_College As someone who wrote my exam last year I will say I was not ok for quite some time. The stress of starting a new job, exams, moving and A PANDEMIC is a lot to manage... and I did not have to gather for an oral exam. 1/2
@DrToddLee@Royal_College@jddneary With everything that goes into preparing for these exams, we all know that this is not even a choice.... it appears the messaging has not improved over the last year
@ALubeyMD@Royal_College Again, the option of: do it and put yourself at risk or wait a year is a tad tone deaf.... These doctors could be helping to provide care to critically ill patients which is desperately needed in Ontario right now.
@colmjmccarthy @Royal_College@CMA_Docs I completely agree! Based on my own experiences/many from last year, starting your new career as staff/fellow in the middle of a pandemic is HARD. Don’t cause stress with another hurdle right now. I hope that an equitable solution is reached. We need all hands on deck right now!
Great presentation from @LailaNassMD detailing the health and wellness impacts on residents from the @Royal_College and @FamPhysCan exam postponement in 2020. Important considerations as current and future disruptions likely inevitable. @MichelleOnlock @natasha7md #CCME2021
Getting the COVID-19 vaccine when you’re eligible is an important step towards ending the pandemic — but getting vaccinated doesn’t mean dropping public health measures.
