@HumeralO 1000 year old Latin speaker in the comments: b-but you should just know that angina comes from “angere” which means “to choke or throttle” it’s really super intuitive
@davidcarr333@petrosoniak Completing an annual attestation that i won’t attach my password to the computer monitor on a sticky note. As someone who uses a computer every day, it feels the same as saying I won’t stick my hand on a hot stove or eat yellow snow
@anish_koka Or you can send the chest pain patient to the cath lab and they die of an aortic dissection. This is a tragic story. I am curious where you heard that it was a missed MI? I am very doubtful that this was a failure of an established occlusion MI pathway.
@Rick_Pescatore Interested in this.
What were the case outcomes?
What evidence did you rely on when providing your support as the defence expert?
The patient died because they didn't receive potassium binders or the remainder of tx also wasn't adequate? How much of a delay to definitive care?
@garvs_72 Late to this. Is this from the phase 3 open-label or other? The patients with a higher K also receive more intensive "standard of care" treatment up front which coincidentally works in the first hour. Hypothesis generating yes. Medlegal standard of care tho? As you said non-sig
@ryancookeNL Ryan I don’t see this mentioned in your investigative article, but why were residents removed from the hospital? This is typically not a minor decision.
Reasons pt leave ED:to feed pets, eat, use substances, sleep better
Hospital: no pets, EMR alarm after > 20mg of morphine, bright hallway bed. No food??
So many (sick) pt wouldn’t come let alone stay if no food. Decision makers have clearly never experienced food insecurity
What are we doing here Alberta?
We already barely have any food left in our EDs for those in need - EDs left with some toast and juice at the best of times
Where's the "care" in Health Care in AB?
What's next? Save on electrical bills and turn off the blanket warmers?

@petrosoniak But there was no evidence (based on two human observational studies totaling less than 100 patients) (and some animal studies with titles like “Effects of terbutaline and isoproterenol on hyperkalemia in nephrectomized rabbits” ,very applicable)
@davidcarr333 though idk that med needs any more "feel good save the world" greys anatomy. ppl should have an honest look at the challenges of EM so they don't come in blindsided. tough convos, systemic issues are on display. and we still choose it. camaraderie in the trenches.
Program communications: “we are one big happy family. You will have so much fun here!”
CaRMS communications: “you have made an unbreakable blood oath. There is no escape.”
Good idea. To expand on this, we could have a tournament every 4 years that any country could qualify for. Different countries could bid to host it, and we could do the same for other winter sports at the same time.
Wouldn’t a 6 Nations Face-Off be better?
Add Team Russia and a Team “Rest of Europe” that includes players from Germany, Czechia, Switzerland etc.
Teams:
- Canada
- USA
- Sweden
- Finland
- Russia
- Europe
Make it so all of the world’s best players are represented.

unfortunately this is what happens when you expect to make money on real estate. housing should not be a retirement strategy, and if we treated this the same as the stock market you shouldn’t *expect* to make a profit on an investment. especially an unlivable shoebox condo.
