Norfolk DA candidate Adam Deitch is calling for DA Michael Morrissey’s resignation “effective immediately” after concerning text messages between cops investigating Karen Read came to light. https://t.co/4zLy4qVxWH
If your organization endorses Greg Connor, you’re endorsing everything that occurred under his leadership including Michael Proctor’s disgusting racist texts and planting evidence on innocent people. Not a good look IW Local 7, I’d advise against it.
Congrats to the Spencer family, and all who support Aaron’s fight for justice for his daughter, and freedom for himself. We NEEDED some great news like this today in the world!
Police officers are entrusted with extraordinary authority. With that authority comes a duty to act fairly, honestly, professionally, and impartially. When agencies fail to ensure that those entrusted with that authority are fit to exercise it, the consequences can be devastating
In light of today’s horrifying text message revelations, I am calling for Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrisey to resign effective immediately. Racism, bigotry, misogyny, and antisemitism have absolutely no place in the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. They are appalling and shocking and, under my leadership, will never be tolerated.

Just step aside, Greg. Give someone else the opportunity to make a change in Norfolk county.
After today, I don’t see how you’ll have any credibility left with the people you’re asking to support you.
You claimed you had no knowledge of the vile text messages, and you also claimed you were not actively involved in Karen Read’s case. However, the emails we’ve seen appear to contradict those statements.
If those claims were untrue, it raises an obvious question: what else have you been dishonest about?
The vile texts from law enforcement officers Proctor and Goode are not merely disturbingly offensive; they reveal deeply rooted prejudices, as well as a dark, seething hostility and hatred directed at entire groups of people.
These revelations are particularly troubling because they undermine public confidence not only with respect to their investigations, but also in the many law enforcement officers and investigators who work diligently and ethically every day to conduct fair, unbiased investigations in search of the truth.
There can be no rationale whatsoever that documented, indefensible, and flagrant biases can somehow be viewed in isolation without impacting the very integrity of an investigation, the evidence, and the testimony of biased investigators.
Law enforcement investigators exercise enormous discretion. This is where hateful prejudices and biases can influence the very trajectory of an investigation. Investigators decide which leads to pursue or not to pursue, which witnesses to interview or not to interview, what evidence is significant, what alternative theories deserve scrutiny, and ultimately how an investigation unfolds.
Deep rooted biases as seen in the texts impact those decisions, undermining the very constitutional safeguards that exist to protect the accused. Those protections completely collapse in the face of flagrant biases that undermine both the due process and sixth amendment rights of those accused of crimes.

“More than once, Proctor discussed ‘planting coke’ on people." - Karen Read filing.
“If you had any doubts about whether or not Michael Proctor was the type of guy to plant some evidence, I think those doubts have been erased.”- Bob Motta called it in April.
