In Germany we call the time between Christmas and New Year’s “Zwischen den Jahren” [literally “between the years”] because no one has a clue what day or time it is anyway.
My absolute favourite way to watch the NYC Marathon is through the isolated pro feeds on the race app. No commentary, just listening to the fans lining the course cheering their hearts out. I’m thousands of miles away and still have goosebumps watching.
Is Amanal Petros one of the most accessorised marathoners out there? Signature pearl necklace, glasses on top of his head, five or six rings. It’s obviously common to see on the track, but a lot rarer on the roads, no?
