Trust us to be one of two carriages to overheat and have no air conditioning and there’s no seats for us to move 🫠 easily has to be 27 degrees on this train @AvantiWestCoast
The suns coming up and the games not even finished, any chance my work want to rethink their stance on the bank holiday Monday? 🥴 suddenly understand the extra recovery day…
@CruelPhilosophr@LateefSaka Totally agree, if you are willing to warn a room of hundreds of people (who are more likely to have seen the film given many of them will have been voters) then that should have been extended to the millions at home, especially given it was aired at 7pm in the UK for families
It’s upsetting to hear that the audience at the BAFTAs were made aware that John Davidson was there, the nature of his condition/the extremity of his ticking and it either wasn’t filmed or edited out. It feels like a major error given the viewing audience may not know.
@CruelPhilosophr@LateefSaka Mad me mad because editing it out was a huge mistake by BBC/BAFTA. It doesn’t excuse what happened but would let the viewing audience understand for those unaware and wondering why there was shouting throughout the awards. It fails in their duty of care to him and the guests 2/2
@CruelPhilosophr@LateefSaka I totally appreciate the conversation and the understanding that can’t always be reached by one headline tweet. I just seen a tweet from somebody at the event which confirmed a warning was provided to guests and explanation prior to the filming of awards but that equally 1/2
@CruelPhilosophr@LateefSaka I don’t disagree with that, it’s extremely upsetting as a viewer to see their reaction in what should be a great moment/night for them. I simply also worry for the mental health of John Davidson who has been opened up to a world wide hate in a moment.
@CruelPhilosophr@LateefSaka He was surrounded by people who knew him, worked with him, knew his condition and still wanted him there. Is it possible the audience were warned off camera that there is a potential for offensive language and explained about the condition prior to the awards?
@protomanfilms@AshNicoleMoss Yes, he shouted throughout the opening monologue and is reported he left of his own accord following the racial slur was used
@CruelPhilosophr@LateefSaka What is your solution? I ask that genuinely when the whole point of the film it to highlight the lack of understanding. I don’t think anybody knew he would use that word, that’s not how the condition works. What he says today he may never say again.
