It’s going to be 118° in Calipatria State Prison in Southern California tomorrow. Whenever you discuss climate change or climate justice, please do not exclude one of the most vulnerable groups of ppl in that conversation.
@akhan1437 While the COs get paid time off from the state and they’re still not wearing masks in all institutions. And COs refusing COVID tests but when the inmates refuse they’re loosing privileges 🤬🤬🤬
An incarcerated woman* has died from covid in a CA prison. Visits have been cancelled for one whole year, since last March. Incarcerated ppl are at the mercy of correctional staff to keep them *safe* but it’s the staff who’ve been infecting them w/ covid this entire pandemic.
trump just pardoned & commuted a bunch of rich, white dudes. But what’s more sickening to me is how our state governors can do the same for black, brown & poor ppl but stubbornly refuse to do so.
Voting matters. I’m free because of it. It’s not a cure. It’s a strategy. It has been voting coupled w/ movement building that has gotten people OUT of prison—especially for us who were once sentenced to life. We can’t afford to give any more power away. Please vote.
BREAKING:
6 correctional officers at RJ Donovan prison in CA received stab wounds, lacerations & broken bones by aprx 20 incarcerated ppl today.
I hate that this happened. I do. But I also know that you can’t put a chokehold on ppl’s humanity & just expect them to die quietly.
