My mum’s last words to us was: ‘Do not be afraid. Are you afraid ni? E ma fo. God is with us’. Then she had the second cardiac arrest.
The fear in my heart since then has been massive. I pray for hope and faith.
If I asked you to name one infection everyone should know their status for, you’d probably say HIV.
And you’d be right.
But when last did you hear someone say they went to check their Hepatitis B status?
Exactly. 🧵
One thing that has always fascinated me is how some Nigerian men talk about pregnancy.
They have mothers who sold in the market throughout their pregnancies. They have wives who work until they go on maternity leave. They have sisters who raised toddlers while carrying another baby. They have seen women cook, clean, work, commute, and care for their families while pregnant.
Yet the moment they see a video of a pregnant white woman going to the gym, hiking, or simply being active, they suddenly act as if Nigerian women are lazy.
Where did this narrative come from? The women in your own life have been active through pregnancy for decades, so why are they invisible until it's time to compare them with someone else?
Maybe the issue isn't that Nigerian women are lazy, maybe you just hate your women so much you no longer see their strength.
I was actually one of the nurses on duty that day, and I can confirm every word. In fact, the moment she walked into the labor ward, we immediately realized this wasn’t going to be like every other delivery we’d spent years training for. We threw away the fetal monitor, the partograph, the blood pressure cuff, the IV cannula, the emergency trolley, and every obstetrics textbook because, as it turns out, all those things were completely unnecessary.
She simply walked to the bed, looked at the baby and said, “Come out.” The baby respectfully complied within minutes. No contractions to monitor, no cervical examinations, no assessment of fetal position, no concern about the size of the baby or the mother’s pelvis. Apparently none of that has ever mattered. We have all been wasting our time.
Immediately after the delivery, the hospital called an emergency meeting. Every obstetrician, midwife, anesthetist and pediatrician was informed that decades of medical training had been based on misinformation. We have now concluded that prolonged labor, obstructed labor, postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, eclampsia, emergency C-sections and maternal mortality only happen because women failed to renew their gym memberships.
We’ve also contacted medical schools worldwide to remove Obstetrics & Gynecology from their curriculum. Future doctors will no longer learn about parity, cervical dilation, fetal distress, induction of labor, breech presentation, placenta previa, uterine rupture, or any of those outdated concepts. The only lecture remaining is “Stay Fit and Tell the Baby to Come Out.”
We’ve gone a step further and written to the World Health Organization, ACOG, RCOG and every maternity hospital across the globe to stop wasting resources on labor wards. Apparently the solution to childbirth has been sitting in a gym all along.
On behalf of every doctor, nurse, midwife, researcher, and every woman who has ever experienced a difficult or traumatic labor, we sincerely apologize for not realizing sooner that childbirth is actually a fitness competition. Thank you, sir, for correcting centuries of medical science with one tweet. We are forever indebted to you.
Let me speak to the Nigerian men abroad for a moment. 👀

If you're ready to meet the love of your life I mean actually ready, not "ready to see where it goes" ready.

After Hagar fled from Sarah for maltreating her out of jealousy, she went to the wilderness where God appeared to her and blessed her because the child she was carrying was a seed of Abraham. After God blessed her, she called him ‘El Roi’ - meaning, the God who sees me.
Prior to that time, no one had ever seen her. Her only identity was Sarah’s hand maid. Sarah saw her as a maid. Abraham saw her as Sarah’s maid. People saw her as Sarah’s maid. But for the first time in her life, someone saw her. Someone saw her enough to bless her. That is also the very first time someone gave God a name - El Roi.
I don’t know what you’re going through but I know many of you are at your lowest point and nobody sees you. I pray God sees you. El Roi ❤️
When a Girl Child Grows Breasts Too Fast: The Silent Story of Gigantomastia
THIS IS WHAT GIGANTOMASTIA IS.
There is a kind of growth that doesn't feel like a celebration. When a young girl's breasts enlarge rapidly and disproportionately, it may not simply be puberty. It could be gigantomastia, a rare condition where excessive breast tissue causes pain, emotional distress, and physical disability.
The cause is often juvenile (virginal) gigantomastia, but doctors must also consider hormonal disorders, genetic syndromes, medications, obesity, and, rarely, breast tumours. That is why every child deserves a careful evaluation...not assumptions.
A good doctor becomes part detective. Listen to her story. Examine her gently. Request only the tests that her symptoms justify. Sometimes, reassurance is enough. Sometimes, hormonal treatment helps. And when the burden becomes too great, surgery may be necessary.
But the greatest weight she carries is not always on her chest. It is often the shame, the stares, the bullying, and the feeling that her body has betrayed her.
So when a girl grows too fast in a world that is already eager to judge her, let us offer more than treatment. Let us offer understanding, dignity, and tenderness.
Oral sex is now the most common cause of throat cancer in the US, surpassing alcohol and tobacco. This is due to the carcinogenic HPV virus.
Here's what actually lowers your risk of HPV transmission during oral sex:
1. Use a dental dam while performing oral sex.
@jon_d_doee What is wrong with you? If you don’t love yourself, are you not loved at home?
Why will a man tell you never to come to his house again and you still went there? He also has no respect for you.
CAN YALL SHOULD STOP CIRCULATING WRONG INFORMATION CONCERNING KING LOUIS AND FETISHES AND LAYING ON THEIR BACKS!!!?.
CAN PREGNANT WOMEN SQUAT TO HAVE A VAGINAL DELIVERY?
WHEN GRAVITY MEETS GUIDELINES AND WHY CHILDBIRTH IS NOT A ROMANCE NOVEL
Yes, squatting during childbirth is not new. It is old. Very old. Older than hospitals, and older than obstetric beds, and certainly older than ring lights and viral videos. Before medicine had machines, women used gravity. They squatted, and knelt, and sat on wooden stools while medieval midwives watched closely and prayed fervently. So what you saw online is not innovation, it is archaeology dressed as empowerment.
And yet this is where truth must interrupt nostalgia.
According to RCOG guidance, upright positions in labour including squatting can be beneficial, and this is important, when appropriately chosen. Gravity may help the baby descend, and labour may shorten, and some women may avoid assisted delivery. These are not myths. They are physiology.
But medicine does not stop at 'can' Medicine asks, for whom, and when, and at what cost.
RCOG is very clear, and clarity matters here: Women should be encouraged to adopt any position they find comfortable, provided there are no medical or obstetric contraindications.
And that sentence modest, restrained, almost shy is where social media loses interest.
Because squatting, Ify, is not universally safe. Not for every woman. Not for every labour. Not for every baby. And certainly not for every moment.
There are labours where squatting is unwise like when the baby is distressed and seconds matter, and when an epidural has taken balance and control, and when a severe tear is waiting quietly at the perineum, and when the baby is large or poorly positioned, and when shoulder dystocia is anticipated, and when haemorrhage is a possibility that demands control, and when continuous monitoring or urgent intervention may be needed. In these moments, romance is dangerous.
You see, modern obstetrics is not impressed by how ancestral something feels. It is loyal only to context.
What unsettles us as doctors is not squatting itself. It is the way it is sold as more natural, and therefore superior, as always safer, and therefore unquestionable; as better than hospital birth, and therefore virtuous. This is a false holiness.
Medieval women birthed upright, yes and they also died in numbers we would now find obscene. Progress was not abandoning physiology, it was refusing preventable death. We kept what worked, and we discarded what killed women quietly.
So here is the balanced truth, and balance is the hardest thing to sell online:
Squatting can be used. It should be supported. It must be supervised. And it should always be individualised, never prescribed by an algorithm.
The safest birth position is not the most ancient one. It is the one chosen with a skilled birth attendant, in response to this woman, this baby, this labour.
So, do not fear squatting, but do not worship it either. Medicine does not reject old wisdom, it interrogates it, and refines it, and insists that women survive it.
And if you ever find yourself considering an upright position in labour, ask not whether it is natural. Ask whether it is safe, for you, right now, in this moment.
That is where medicine stands. Firmly. Responsibly. And always, always on the side of women staying alive.
every woman, listen up!...
when you’ve had a vaginal delivery, you must try and pass urine at most 6 hrs following delivery...
tell your midwife or doctor... if you haven't... call them to assess you!
this will help prevent this👇👇👇👇
Her name is Gina Martin. She was at a music festival in London when a man pushed his phone between her legs and took a photo under her skirt. She reported it to the police immediately. They told her it wasn't a criminal offence. There was nothing they could do.
She went home and decided that was unacceptable. With no legal background, no political connections and no funding she launched a campaign to make upskirting a criminal offence in England and Wales. She petitioned. She lobbied MPs. She spoke publicly about what had happened to her. The government initially blocked the bill.
She kept going. The Voyeurism Act passed in January 2019. Upskirting now carries up to two years in prison. Scotland followed. Other countries are following. A woman at a festival with no lawyer, no funding and no political connections rewrote the law for an entire nation in eighteen months.
I won't stop posting this picture until either I'm arrested or the government do the right thing.
This is a health center in a community in Ebonyi State.
This is not fair to the people!
No matter how hard you workout, fat sticks to you if your daily habits are trash.
Here are 8 things I have clients do every day to make the scale finally move.
1. Walk. A lot.
These are people who have no fresh air to breathe.
These are people who don’t have clean and clear water to drink.
These are people who have to wake up 4am every morning to beat traffic to work, while we others are still asleep.
This is a city with arguably the highest crime rate in Nigeria.
These are the ONLY people living with the risk of waking up one morning under the Atlantic Ocean.
This is a city were Tinubu comes from.
This is the only city in Nigeria where you find landlords who build toilets in kitchens and charge 5M/year for 2-bedroom apartments.
Lagosians talk too much for people living like savages and smiling cos “it is the commercial hub or the country”.
A people with absolutely ZERO sense of correct self assessment.
Once you learn how to shop directly from China, E.g Temù or shien your wardrobe changes completely. Call me cheap I don't care I ain't rich, I don't do fraud.😭
It's knowing what to search for.
Here's my style after making plenty of mistakes.
1. T-shirts:
Skip 100% polyester unless you're buying gym wear.
Instead, search:
• 100% Cotton
• Combed Cotton
• Heavyweight Cotton
• 240-300 GSM Cotton
• Premium Cotton
• Mercerized Cotton
The heavier the GSM, the thicker and more premium the shirt usually feels.
2. Jeans:
Denim Jeans
Temu is surprisingly good for denim if you know what to search.
Search:
• Denim Jeans
• Cotton Denim
• Raw Denim
• Selvedge Denim (if available)
• 98% Cotton + 2% Elastane
• 99% Cotton
Avoid jeans with high polyester content. The more cotton, the better they'll age and feel.
3. Body-hug clothing:
Search:
• Ribbed Knit
• Modal
• Viscose Blend
• Cotton-Spandex Blend
They hold their shape much better than cheap polyester.
4. Hoodies
Search:
• 400 GSM
• French Terry
• Cotton Fleece
• Heavyweight Hoodie
5. Chains
Search:
• 316L Stainless Steel
• Titanium Steel
• PVD Gold Plated
• Vacuum Plated
These are far more resistant to fading than ordinary fashion jewelry.
6. Earrings
Search:
• 925 Sterling Silver
• 316L Stainless Steel
• Hypoallergenic
• Moissanite (if you're buying stones)
7. Scarves
Search:
• Mulberry Silk
• Silk Blend
• Cashmere Blend
• Wool Blend
• Viscose
Avoid the shiny, thin polyester scarves if you're after a premium look.
8. Loafers
Search:
• Genuine Leather
• Cow Leather
• Full Grain Leather (rare but worth looking for)
• Rubber Outsole
9. Sneakers
Search:
• Rubber Outsole
• EVA Midsole
• Breathable Mesh
• Leather Upper
• Stitched Sole
Pictures lie a lot
The description usually tells the truth.
Here's how I shop:
1. Read the material composition before anything else.
2. Sort by Most Orders or Best Selling, not cheapest.
3. Only buy products with lots of reviews or pictures or even better when a Nigerian has purchased it before they always tell the truth.
4. Read the 1-star reviews first. They'll tell you what the seller won't.
5. Look at customer photos, not the product photos.
6. Check the weight of the product. Better quality clothing is often heavier.
7. Read the size chart. Don't assume your Nigerian size matches.
8. If the title has words like "luxury," "premium," or "designer" but the material is 100% polyester, not everything but still move on.
Your best friend isn't the product picture.
It's the material, the reviews, and the customer photos.
That's how you separate the gems from the junk.
I hope this help.
Things are to expensive for a country this poor.
