In addition, we are announcing the complete defensive staff today:
Mike Macdonald - Defensive Coordinator
@CoachNua - Defensive Line
@luc_brian - Linebackers
@CoachMo15 - Defensive Backs/Co-Defensive Coordinator
@GeorgeHelow - Safeties
Partridge landed 1 Top 100 DB in 2019. Linguist landed 3.
It was Linguist's first full cycle at A&M. He was hired in January of 2018 (throw 105 out). Lastly, secondary recruiter tags give too much of a rankings boost. They are more political than the actual recruit rankings.
Michigan's defensive coaching staff is complete, per a release from the football program:
Co-DC - Mike MacDonald
Co-DC/DBs - Maurice Linguist
DL - Shaun Nua
LB - Brian Jean-Mary
Safeties - George Helow
Little surprised Treshaun Hayward is only the No. 5 linebacker here. Former MAC defensive player of the year and 2nd team All-American.
Regardless, the Ann Arbor native should be a priority for Michigan IMO, especially with the Wolverines likely switching to a 3-4 defense.
Confirmed with an impeccable source that former Dallas Cowboys CB coach Maurice Linguist (@CoachMo15) is #Michigan's new Co DC and corners coach. This was the name mentioned on TMI last night. Outstanding recruiter added to U-M's staff - https://t.co/aRkRGA7i6m
Average age of Michigan's assistant coaching staff under Jim Harbaugh:
2015: 45
2016: 45
2017: 47
2018: 47
2019: 43
2020: 46
2021: 38
You don't see changes of that magnitude by accident. This looks like a very intentional shift from Harbaugh, who promised change post-extension.
#Michigan pulled Mike Hart, as well as former Maryland LB coach who’s got a great resume, and two defensive coaches from the NFL. Definitely a nice off-season of coaching changes thus far
