Did you know that:

In Kenya, we have 47 counties.

Each of these counties has on average 47 MCAs.

The average MCA represents 20,000 people.

The average MCA has an income that is 16 times what the average Kenyan makes annually.

And we have 2,200 of them.

In each county, these 47 people consume about 10% of the county budget.

For example @036Bometcounty has a population of 900,000.

It has a budget of about KSH 8 billion annually. In FY2022-2023, Bomet only raised KSH 242 million within Bomet.

That was 3% of the budget, 10 years into devolution.

But the county’s 39 MCAs consumed KSH 1.07 billion of the KSH 8 billion budget that year. Or 13% of the budget.

The county spent 4 times what it raised locally on 39 MCAs!

It also spent KSH 309 million in luxury travel- also more than it raised locally.

Each MCA costs KSH 27 million. Enough to hire 100 nurses in local hospitals for an entire year, paying them KSH 20,000 - which is the income earned by the average Kenyan.

With that in mind:

(2) Please share your thoughts and comments about the reasonableness of the number of politicians we have in Kenya. For example, tell us why it makes sense for Bomet to have 39 leeches (sorry politicians) eating up 13% of the entire budget.

The county's citizens make KSH 140,000 per year on average.

MCAs make KSH 121,000 in "sitting allowances" on top of their salaries, PER MONTH.

In 10 years of devolution, it has received KSH 109 billion in money transfers from Kenyans across the country, because it has never been able to raise more than 10% of its annual budget.

The county has a 40% poverty rate.

It has an annual budget of around KSH 15 billion.

It can only raise about 10% of this annually.

When the money gets there, close to 50% is paid out to county politicians, their aides, and friends.

For example, in FY2023-2024, the county dropped 48% of all revenue on 1% of the population in government and their friends.

48%. In salaries alone. No benefits counted. This is illegal by the way, because our law caps spending on salaries at 35% of revenue.

By this gimmick alone, @BarasaFernandes - who despite being a CPA apparently cannot do math, STOLE KSH 2.7 billion from citizens in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. He stole because the legal limit is 35%.

If you live in Kakamega, ask yourself how much this KSH 2.7 billion could have done. Roads. Functioning hospitals. Etc.

The county has 89 MCAs. Over and above their salaries, each received KSH 121,000 per month in "sitting allowances".

Dropped KSH 305 million on travel. KSH 93 million for cars for the Governor and Deputy.

And then - to be shared by all the children in the county, KSH 120 million for bursaries.

In other words, the KSH 109 billion we have sent to Kakamega in the last 10 years, has not served our brothers and sisters in Kakamega, outside of this 1%.

You can take 50% as having been spent on salaries for this 1%. The rest on luxury travel, cars, benefits.

And yes, KSH 3.5 billion on that Bukhungu Stadium.

Despite the 40% poverty rate.

This ain't devolution. It is madness and greed on steroids.

I have told you before that devolution is not working as intended.

These first two pictures tell you all you need to know about priorities of those in government. Look at pictures 1 and 2.

The average citizen there makes about KSH 11,000 per month. Before taxes. @gladyswanga makes a basic income that he 89 times what the average citizen makes.

@HomaBayCountyKE spends about 44% of its revenue on politicians, their aides and friends.

Home Bay has a population of 1.2 million.

And yet, it spent KSH 4.4 billion- or 44% of its entire budget- on less than 2,500 employees.

Please understand that. 44% of the doggone budget went to 0.2% of the population!

That was in salaries alone.

KSH 327 million in luxury travel. KSH 58 million in cars for MCAs. KSH 51 million for @gladyswanga and deputy for cars. In one freaking year!

Bursaries - for all kids in this purgatory. KSH 194 million.

Support for local hospitals? KSH 131 million.

Sit down for this one:

For every shilling they spent to support local hospitals, they put aside 34 for their salaries!

There has never been a more morally and intellectually bankrupt political culture than ours.

I often ask you this question:

What is the purpose of government in Kenya?

This question is a question that all Kenyans must answer for themselves.

But I can tell you based on countless discussions I have had with Kenyans, Kenyans interact with their government primarily through the following:

(1) When they are getting over-taxed.
(2) When they are being shaken down by government officials - either while they are trying to make a living, or when government officials demand a bribe for a job, or in exchange for basic services such as permits to build anything.
(3) When they are getting shot at for protesting their own corrupt government.

Just so you understand how bonkers our situation is, I want you to consider these data points.

(1) Our country today is over KSH 11 trillion in debt. To everyone and their grandmother. 80% of this debt was accumulated in the last 10 years (coincides with devolution).
(2) Due to this crazy amount of debt - our country today puts aside 70% of all tax revenue to service this debt. We are left with 30%. This is what unbridled corruption brings.
(3) What do we do with this 30% that is left? Our first order of business is to serve our political class.

Take a look at the attached picture. In the first table, I show you 10 of the wealthiest countries on God's green earth. These countries have the resources to shower their political class with hefty salaries and benefits. If they wanted to.

But they don't. You know why? Because they understand that being in government is supposed to be ALL ABOUT PUBLIC SERVICE.

As opposed to, BEING SERVED BY THE PUBLIC.

I compare compensation of politicians - using members of parliament. If you look in the last column, on average, an MP in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, etc. earns about 2 times what the average citizen earns.

In this lawless purgatory we call home, our politicians apparently know something that these contries do not know. There is apparently value they add in our lives, that nobody has quite succeeded in articulating, yet.

Look at the second table. I use compensation of Governors (very close to MPs compensation) to illustrate the sheer insanity of our banana republic political culture.

@GovMohamudWajir of @WajirKE - a county with a 65% poverty rate, earns an income that is 165 times what his fellow citizens earn.

@TurkanaCountyKE pays its Governor an income that is 92 times what citizens in that county make. Despite a poverty rate of 83%

@Tanariver004 - the epicenter of political corruption, with its 67% poverty rate, pays its Governor an income that is 116 times what the average citizen earns there.

And on, and on, and on.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are all heading to hell, in a hand basket. This is insane.

What we have a severe perversion of devolution and government in general.

Brings me to this point. Our rotten, morally and intellectually bankrupt political class has one tried and true response when it is confronted with real data, like what I just shared. They say:

"Do not burn down your country."

They love to question the patriotism of young Kenyans who look at this type of depravity and decide it won't fly with them.

My point to them is this:

You leeches have consumed anything and everything we had. What is left now, to be consumed, is you.

Ask them to explain what 10 of the world's richest countries apparently do not know, with respecting to the value politicians add into their citizen's wellbeing.

The problem of leadership - or the lack thereof, is a national crisis in Kenya.

Bite on these nuggets:

Wajir County is one of the poorest counties in Kenya.

The county has a population of around 800,000.

Umaskini wa kunuka. 65% poverty.

No infrastructure to write home about.

82% of the population has never seen the inside of a classroom.

County hospitals? Look at the third picture. Compare that with the "Office of the Governor". In the second picture.

It has a budget of KSH 11 billion annually. It raises only 1% of this annually from the county.

You and I, have to fund the lifestyles chosen by its politicians. And in 10 years of devolution, we have collectively sent in KSH 84 billion.

This county has no hope ever, of being economically viable. In 10 years, it has never raised more than 1% of the costs to keep it running.

Think about this for context. The average Carrefour in Kenya brings in roughly KSH 1.5 billion in sales revenue annually.

@WajirKE brings in KSH 164 million. 10% of that Carrefour!

And, it wants to be treated like a sovereign jurisdiction, with an economy that is 10% of the average Carrefour.

It has demigods running around the world calling themselves "His Excellency" and Hon.

Living fabulously at the expense of Kenyans making KSH 6,000 a month. Spends KSH 400 million traversing the globe. See last picture for examples of these trips.

A trip to Dubai to learn all about governance and finance. Cost? KSH 6.5 million.

A trip to Turkey to learn all about resilience and decision making. Cost? KSH 8.3 million.

A trip to Turkey to learn all about effective leadership. Cost? KSH 7.4 million.

In 2023-2024, 42% of its entire budget on salaries for people in its payroll.

In November 2022, Governor Ahmed Abdullahi stated that the county government employed 6,000 staff, but a payroll audit uncovered around 1,500 ghost workers—individuals on the payroll suspected of not being bona fide employees.

If you remove 1,500 from 6,000, you get roughly 4,500 people on payroll, representing only 0.6% of the population.

In other words, this 0.6% of the population ate up 42% of the entire budget, all by themselves.

And the Governor needs to make 163 times what the average citizen in Wajir makes.

No wonder, despite the KSH 84 billion you and I sent there, in 10 years, the poverty rate still stands at 65%. Hospitals look like crap. Literacy rate is 18%.

You just ask yourself - if these clowns spent all this time in Dubai and Turkey, learning "effective leadership", where the heck is the application of what they leant?

MAJAMAA, SKIENI HII STORY 🛑

The man circled in red is called Harrison Wachira.

Harrison was shot next to Juja Police Station, and was dragged on the floor into the station by cops.( We saw the clip)

His family confirmed that his body was full of mud and tarmac scratches.

Three men who saw him shot and tried helping him,

Were illegally arrested,dragged into the station and are facing trumped up charges of robbery with violence.

They are John Opiyo, Dennis Arnold and Douglas Govendi.

The hearing will be on 16th July 2025 at Thika Law Courts.

Our Solidarity is needed.
