@ClarkeMicah That's simply not true Peter. Appeals were automatic (for everyone) on points of law only. Otherwise you needed to apply for leave to appeal. And you needed grounds for appeal. An appeal is not a second hearing.
@cjsnowdon@ClarkeMicah Hang on...weren't the hospital supposed to be trying to avoid negligence payments by framing Letby?
Compensation is in any case determined by need.
@rob_goudie@ClarkeMicah Because the outcome of the trial did not depend exclusively or almost exclusively on a serious disagreement between distinguished and reputable experts.
@drphilhammond@gmcuk The GMC isn't investigating this case, though, is it? Nor has Letby questioned the competence of her defence, which she retained for her second trial and both her appeals. So who the hell are you to say it should be investigated by the legal authorities as a matter of urgency?
@ClarkeMicah@Hughristics This "secret club" then went on air and wrote bylined articles in national and local newspapers. It shouldn't be hard to reach out to them and ask what happened. I'm sure some of them would like a word with you as well.
@Docstockk That's just obviously true, though, isn't it? An impact assessment simply assesses the impact of something, it's not advocacy for the cheaper option. Beheading is cheaper than hanging, drawing and quartering. Is it "chilling" that prolonged torture costs money?
@drphilhammond@PrivateEyeNews These would be two experts who were recruited to look at the medical notes AFTER they had come to the conclusion they were going to reach in the report? Did you not think it might have been better for someone else to have done this?
@johnsweeneyroar The theory is that of two neonatologists, not three. Number three merely gave his own account of it, which you rely on. But these are only theories, not facts. Every statement should at least be prefaced with "may have been" or "is consistent with".
@New_Wesphalian@LucyLetbyTrials@northerness No, her guilt is evidence of the failure of the NHS in their care for babies. How is it better for the "religion" to claim that you not only harboured but defended a serial killer?
The hospital is now facing a
public inquiry precisely because of the guilty verdict!
@PriyamvadaGopal 21st March, Financial Times reports: NHS enlists all English private hospitals to treat coronavirus.
"The entire capacity of the private hospital sector in England will be used to treat coronavirus patients,"
@carolecadwalla This isn't election spending, so would it have to be declared? Firstly, it's a "membership survey". Secondly it dates from December 2015. The election was in May and the referendum wasn't called until February 2016, so it can't be campaign spending as there is no campaign.
