While the damage to historical and archaeological sites in #earthquake-affected areas of Syria and Turkiye is devastating, now is not the time to focus on these monuments. Now is the time to focus on people. Below are a couple of ways:
Recent press reports @museumsassociation have highlighted a trend for museums to move away from the term “mummy” when talking about ancient Egyptian human remains, instead preferring the term 'mummified remains' or even 'mummified person'. The latter being HAD's preference.
@osteo_clo totally agree! I minored in human rights as part of my BSc/BA which informed my
ethical approaches & practices, especially in terms of engaging with human remains and descendent communities. interdisciplinarity in education is so valuable!!
