We are delighted to share that @AhlawatNeetika is starting her independent research lab as an Assistant Professor at IIT Bhilai @IITBhilai! Congratulations Neetika and all the very best!
It was a pleasure to host @yashraj_chavhan in our group today! He shared with us his latest work on bacterial multicellularity. Thanks Yashraj for spending the day with us - look forward to hosting you again soon!
The book assumes no background knowledge and is accessible to anyone with a passion for learning evolution.

Curious about how evolution takes place? Are you looking for a "first-course" in the subject?
My book, Fundamentals of Evolutionary Biology (CRC Press), takes a microbe-first approach and explains how molecular and cellular processes drive evolution.
New from our lab. Opposing copy-number variation dynamics shape adaptation to glucose vs galactose in diploid yeast.

Researchers from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), replicated evolution in the lab using microbes and feeding them with subtly different sugars, and observing how their adaptations diverge.
In two of their recent studies, the team used two microbes, a well-known bacterium, Escherichia coli or E.coli, and a eukaryotic yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to explore how they process and evolve when identical sugars are served differently.

Resource presentation shapes evolution!
In our latest work, we show that chemically identical nutrients can drive different evolutionary responses, just based on how they're presented. Sounds wild? We explain ๐ (1/6)
These findings highlight how subtle features of the environment, not just its chemical makeup, can profoundly shape evolution.
This matters for microbiome engineering, antibiotic resistance, and understanding natural microbial ecosystems. (5/6)
