Well, as I'm 28 I can't be the only one who's being forced to get the BCG vaccine just to do bank work. Anyone have any ideas around this? π£ Might have to drop the application
@AdamHawker6 It's a bank job so they won't pay sadly. Also I'm a PhD student and this was to top up my funds as the stipend isn't great. Hence why I can't afford it privately (just checked, it would be Β£141 for test then vaccine!)
@miceheath@femtobrewster π¬ Last time I was asked was 8 years ago at my first role as an MLA, they just put no visible scar and that was that π really don't want to have that unless I can help it π£
@AdamHawker6 I don't think I'll be doing that in a bank role. Thank you! Good to know it's not commonly asked for. None of my previous roles have requested it so I was very surprised.
@femtobrewster That's what thought? Being told I need it for a bank BMS role though. Yeahhh, I'm all for for vaccines but it seems so nasty and I've never been asked for it before
@GramPositivity@IDiots_pod Same here, I have a list that I then go back and type up each month π as for benefitting the patient, it's tricky but I usually link it back to improving my own skills and knowledge so the patient is better served in the long run
I think all BMSs should get some direct interaction with patients, it's been the beta experience and helps put things in perspective. I'd love to retain some clinical work alongside lab work in the future
The best thing this PhD has offered me is the chance to talk to patients. I started recruiting recently by myself and I was so nervous and scared. Not sure why. But in just 3 weeks I've grown to love it and don't want to stop. The thought of returning to a lab bench bores me
Very much debating maintaining my BMS registration. Let's face it, I'm not going back to the NHS as a BMS. Not with a PhD. I don't think I'm suited to it anyway. Still waiting on my clinical scientist equivalence. But yeah, really quite lost career path wise today.
