BC Government mandated MAXIMUM acceptable waiting list priority criteria for Orthopaedics and the 2018 data on performance. Our B.C. govt won’t disclose more recent data!
Let’s not forget about our BC NDP government’s hypocritical previous investment in a private company that built private hospitals abroad and recruited our nurses and doctors to leave and work in them.
I hope all voters in the BC election understand that our current NDP government has created massive debt loads for us and our youth and, at the same, have taken our health system from bad to worse.

You can pay for breast surgery to remove normal tissue (cosmetic), but the BC NDP government says too bad if you’re one of the 20 young BC women who develop breast cancer during the mandatory wait list (31 months) for life saving preventive surgery.
@Pcoghlan 13k miles is solid. How are you handling the fueling on those longer runs — eating before, during, or mostly after? Curious what your Garmin and Cronometer actually show works best for you.
Also, David Eby lived in a three-bedroom rental apartment subsidized by the University of British Columbia around 2019, while serving as Attorney General.
A September 2019 Vancouver Sun profile describes his home as a three-bedroom rental apartment on the UBC campus, where he lived with his wife Cailey Lynch, a 2018 UBC medical graduate.
This surely describes the approach of the current BC NDP? A past NDP leader apologized to me for the current NDP. “We too were against poverty”, he said, “but this NDP is against wealth and successful enterprises, but we knew we needed both to treat poverty.” https://t.co/LPIQuEsuaG
This Canadian woman was given MAID as her only choice for stage 4 cancer in Deathcare Canada. She went to the US and death was not the option the doctors there gave her.
Canadian healthcare used to be good, it is now in desperate fear of collapse. They're bringing in doctors who did not study in Canada and whatever else that entails.
I find the healthcare in the US unquestionably superior. Health insurance is the same since I don't pay income tax in Florida, I pay it on insurance. There is immediate, private healthcare if you need it.
Medically assisted suicide is not an option they offer.
Your doctor makes the referral. Then the waiting starts.
Statistics Canada reports that 27.8% of Canadians aged 45 and older had difficulty accessing specialist care, which works out to roughly 4.5 million people. That is just the first consultation, before any test or treatment begins.
The knock-on effect is the part that gets missed. Among middle-aged adults who struggled to reach both a family doctor and a specialist, 54.4% went without care they needed.
Countries like France and Australia, which have better-performing public systems, treat patients through a mix of government and non-government providers, and their patients get in faster. Canada can borrow what works without giving up universal coverage.
