Impossible not to feel good for Rod Brind’Amour. One of the really good guys in the league. 20 years after lifting the Cup as a player, he gets to lift the Cup as a head coach.
The Knicks’ win snaps a 53-year championship drought.
The #NYR still hold the longest drought of primary tenants at MSG with a 54-year championship drought.
Unlike the Knicks, the Rangers spent half of that 54-year drought as one-of-six teams in the league.
Not to be so hyper focused on Sorokin’s votes, but it’s funny that he was on 17 ballots and GMs felt he was the best or the third best this season. My general feeling was Vasilevskiy was clearly #1 and then Sorokin was definitely in the argument for being the second best. #Isles
The last sweep in the Stanley Cup Final still remains as 1998.
For reference, the likes of Jackson Blake, Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svechnikov weren’t born yet. The parity in this league is still one of the best selling points of the NHL.
