Fear of “FIMAGE” Friday Fun Day...say that 5 times fast! Grab three articles of ridiculous clothing, and you get to take one off for every question you answer. Public speaking is hard, but it’s even more difficult when you’re worried about what you look like. #speakwithconfidence

Ever had to draw something without knowing how, or even what, the finished product would be? A challenge like this is always easier with a friend! Our kids had a fun time with this “partner drawing” activity! @DHSAVID2 @DISDLearns @AVID4College

I also took the opportunity to encourage students about completion. If they took the same competitive drive they had in a silly game like this to their school work, they might find some pretty outstanding changes this semester! @AVID4College

For our Friday team building activity, students worked together to build a tower as high as possible in ten minutes...the only hang up? They couldn’t use oral language. This was a reminder to always use every resource available even when you feel stuck or frustrated @DISDLearns

We welcome students back Tuesday with a reflection on the fall semester and goals on how to improve for the spring. We are going to jump straight into what it means to have a growth mindset after that! I can’t think of a more meaningful way to kick off a new year! @DISDLearns

Thank you @txwomans for hosting our @AVID4College tour today. Our students really enjoyed it. There were many questions like: what’s the dress code? How much is the food? Or how long is the passing period? But all are excited about what a college education has to offer!

Thank you @SE1909 for hosting our 7th grade AVID students for our inaugural college tour. It was special that it happened to be #NationalFirstGenStudentDay. My favorite part: hearing a student so excited he said, “I never pictured myself in college, but I want this!” @denisonisd
