@jaredlholt Amazing stuff. And all because he couldn't stop doubling down. There needs to a deeper dive into the impulse to double down even when it's impossible to "win." It's a strange mental illness that seems to afflict more and more people. No snark here.
@amandacarpenter Exactly. Franken was nowhere near what Cuomo is, but he had to step down because values matter--both ethically and practically. Like, real values... not whatever warped hellish things R's say values are.
@MattJHarris85@BKSportsTalk Chances are, you're right of course. But with what's surely to be an overconfident and obnoxious Self squad, I wouldn't bet on Jayhawk domination. Squeaker.
@GeorgeTakei@AndrewYang It's a purely pragmatic approach to getting rid of a right wing nut like Abbott. He'd piss a lot of people off to his left and right, but look at where Texas is now.
@nytopinion@Sarah_Smarsh The more people that read @Sarah_Smarsh, the quicker we can push aside the crap that doesn't matter, and get straight to the problems that are holding us--all of us--back.
@newbeverly In an age of re-watching 80's comedies and cringing to the point of slight urination, this movie HOLDS UP. It even predicts the drone program and poses evergreen, relevant questions about the application of science. And it's hilarious.
@NPRinskeep A better, deeper dive is Sandel's The Tyranny of Merit. His concept of "contributive justice" would combat a lot of the resentment... but it's probably too late.
@pareene I can only imagine the raging ego to defy all logic and good sense and refuse to partner with an actual writer to write his high concepts so they actually turn out as something enjoyable.
@DavidCornDC Love you, David, but this isn't stupidity. It's a craven lust for power. She knows "her people" like these programs. She also knows "her people" don't want "other people" to have the same access.
@marcorubio @SecDef Bad faith (again... and again). It's required there. You know that and are pretending not to, trying to score points. THAT is "theatre."
