𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒:
“Lagos traffic is not a problem, it is a lifestyle.”
The comments made by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, at PodFestNaija 2026 have been deliberately taken out of context.
His remarks were neither a celebration of traffic congestion nor an indication that the Lagos State Government is comfortable with the inconvenience experienced by Lagosians.
Rather, he was explaining a reality that every resident of Lagos understands. Lagos is Nigeria’s commercial capital and one of Africa's busiest cities. Millions of people move across the state every day for work, business, education, entertainment and commerce. That daily movement has shaped how people plan their schedules, consume information, create content and conduct business.
In that context, traffic has become part of the Lagos lifestyle. It influences when people leave home, how businesses operate, how podcasts, music and digital content are consumed, and even how entrepreneurs reach their audiences. This was the point the Deputy Governor was making during a conversation about the growth of the creative and digital economy.
Recognising that traffic has become part of daily life is not the same as accepting it as the ideal. It is simply acknowledging the realities of a rapidly growing megacity while working continuously to improve mobility.
The Lagos State Government has consistently invested in practical solutions to improve mobility across the state. These include the expansion of rail transportation, the development of water transport, strategic road construction and junction improvements, intelligent traffic management systems, the deployment of LASTMA personnel, and Traffic Radio 96.1FM, which provides real time traffic updates to help commuters make informed travel decisions and reduce delays. Together, these initiatives form part of a comprehensive multimodal transport strategy aimed at reducing travel time and improving connectivity.
Those seeking to portray the Deputy Governor's comments as insensitive have relied on an isolated phrase instead of the substance of his remarks. Public discourse is best served when statements are presented in their full context rather than through selective excerpts.
Traffic is a reality of every major global city. In Lagos, it has become part of how people organise their lives, while government remains firmly committed to making that reality easier, safer and more efficient for everyone.

Focusing on the first E in our THEMES+ agenda, which is Education and Technology, the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle sits on nearly 12 hectares and serves about 20,000 students across 36 schools, both primary and secondary.
Before the upgrade, many of the buildings were in poor condition. Today, the entire complex has been rebuilt and expanded, marking its most significant transformation since it was established over 40 years ago.
New classroom blocks have been added to reduce overcrowding. The facilities now include a football pitch, sports courts, a health centre, a fire station, and essential services like solar power and improved water systems.
There is also a clear focus on inclusion. Dedicated buildings for students with disabilities have been introduced, along with lifts to make movement easier within the complex. A vocational centre is now in place, offering training in practical skills such as tailoring, plumbing, and masonry.
With an ICT hub and a central laboratory, students are better positioned to engage with science and technology in a more hands-on way.
Overall, the project creates a more supportive and functional learning environment for a densely populated community.
To God be all the glory for the gift of life and yet another birthday anniversary.
I celebrate you and i pray God gives you divine health, strength, joy and peace as you take Nigeria to her Eldorado of great wealth and opportunities.
Akanbi, omo olodo ide.
I love you and I am so proud of you.

Good news from our water infrastructure front!
The last DCI pipe (pipe no. 944) has been successfully installed yesterday (24th of October, 2025), a major milestone in the ongoing Adiyan II Water Project.
The 8km transmission pipeline has now reached Akute, bringing us closer to delivering additional 70 million gallons of potable water per day to Lagos residents once completed.
Step by step, we are rebuilding and expanding Lagos’ water supply network to meet the needs of our growing population.
This was revealed by the Hon Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, @tokunbo_wahab this afternoon.

“Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you” (Lk 11:9). “To ask,” in fact, is to recognize, through poverty, that everything is a gift from the Lord and to give thanks for it. “To seek” is to open oneself, through obedience, to discovering each day the path we must take on the journey towards holiness, following God’s plans. “To knock” is to ask for and to offer the gifts we have received to our brothers and sisters with a chaste heart, striving to love everyone with respect and generosity. #JubileeOfConsecratedLife
