Limitless Creativity vs Controlled Creativity
CHAOS vs CONTROL
Creativity is relative in football, for some it may be a skill used to beat a player, for others it can be a disguised pass/disguised first touch - there isn't a clear definition.
Actual debate is around the risk
@FootieGeekMatt trossard can commit Hakimi and Kai can run at Marquinhos, thats the ideal plan
instead Kai should have dragged Marquinhos like Kane and then release Martinelli against Hakimi
both are good ideas,for me
instead of using Martinelli,Arteta's idea was to use gravity of Trossard to pull centerbacks and then release Kai or use surprising runs from LB.
Decent idea as pairing Gabi with Kai negates the running potential of the pair.
might be the thought process behind this setup
Arsenal exploiting obvious weakness of PSG's aggressive backline. Every team did that against Enrique and Arteta just copied.
-could have done more
-Marquinhos is the most vulnerable
-unleash Martinelli
but Arteta priortised other aspects for some reasons..

the best and easy way for Arsenal to beat PSG’s man marking is to expose their isolated centerbacks. Since PSG often engage in man-man marking all over the pitch,at some of point of time, these CBs or even the fullbacks will be in vulnerable positions against quick runners..
this idea always need a technical dribbler to bait press and that wont happen with Martinelli. So,i think this is a fair justification for not using Martinelli
-different priorities from Arteta
-aim was to expose Marquinhos, not Hakimi
-idea worked too in the first goal
@saundzo Kvara did the same by moving to right, its typical PSG where both wingers operate in same area and its not something conservative positional teams do,its a hybrid approach from Enrique
@saundzo there were situations where Doue(RW on paper) drifted to left to pair with Kvara(LW), form a 3 man dynamics with LM.
has done the whole season and did in the final too,the frequency was low though, due to defensive concerns
freedom or mobility was there, but limited
Arteta probably won't go for a fully committed high press. the risk is higher if they go for high press after they let PSG backline and Vitinha have a controlled possession atleast for a few seconds. Either commit to a chaotic press or get back into a low block
No in-betweens
Enrique is proving 'Playing Simple Football is the Hardest Thing, yet we Play it to Dominate'
This is PSG's Art of Breaking Aggressive Man-to-Man Press with Simplest Football
once the backline has some control over the ball, its incredibly difficult to trap them as they are masters of manipulation. Should allow them to settle in to that controlled rhythm and it it happens, better not to press them. should retreat and set a low block ready for counter

Arsenal can pull off structured and controlled buildup sequences with this system and at the same time, they can release their runners as I mentioned in my previous post.If they can find a a balance between these two approaches, they can cause a lot of headaches for PSG
Mechanics of Arsenal's brilliant 'double 10' system
Arteta's shift to double 10s was crucial in the key period of their season(against Fulham & Atleti) and it was pleasing to watch
PSG isn't just a high intensity-oreinted side, they are masters of controlling tempo.
-slow tempo
-slow positional interchanges
-gaps occur naturally
-occupy that gaps
-break a line of press
-launch a high intensity direct attack
every phase tailored for player strengths
