Just rewatched #hotd ep 7 again and I have so many fucking thoughts about Rhaesaria, but that throne scene with Sylvi and Mys was delicious af.

“Some advice, my Lady. These people are not your own, you would do well to remember that. Within the walls of the highborn, a whore will always and ever remain a whore.”

It’s interesting to see how Mysaria has been losing her essence of subtlety, when put in situations where she thinks she won’t fully win Rhaenyra’s favour. From seeing her order the murder of a maid in the last ep just to keep her secrets—to seeing Mysaria’s rather reckless attempt at ruining Daemon in Rhaenyra’s eyes this episode—was quite telling.

The White Worm would have been more subtle in her planting of seeds, but Mysaria has long since shed that cloak, she dons the finest silk her Queen has given her and in turn, she does feel quite threatened with Daemon around, which is why she desperately wants him gone.

Though with that said, there’s also the more selfish part to that since Mysaria wants Rhaenyra to herself, to have access to her Queen alone without Daemon’s influence on her.

“Her attentions may be on you now that you bathe in the warm light of her gaze,” ties in to Mysaria’s fear of losing that favour because of others around Rhaenyra, and how at a disadvantage she is because no matter what she does, she will never belong with nobility.

This episode also really highlighted to me what kind of effects Rhaenyra’s affection and favour have had in Mysaria as a whole. She was so desperate to keep Rhaenyra subdued, to appease her and feed into what Rhaenyra wanted to hear. The low-angle shot of Mysaria saying Rhaenyra’s name, while answering the “do you think I’m worthy?” question, and the camera panning down as Mysaria levels herself to Rhaenyra’s eyes, really added such nuance to her complexity.

Mysaria is playing both sides, and Sonoya’s so good at showing that through Mysaria's body language, from the restraint she adds whenever Mysaria’s away from Rhaenyra’s eyes to how Mysaria softens when they’re both finally looking at each other. (The nuzzling got me good!)

So, I do wonder how they’re going to keep exploring Rhaesaria and how they would conclude Mysaria’s journey. I know they’re doomed af but a girl can dream!

Plus I’m just floored- icb I saw Rhaenyra’s praise kink be addressed on my screen like this and Mysaria did it. She’s a real one for that! 😭
