@JonHill42121@metoffice Well Mate , there is always a confidence percentage attached to a forecast , and that will be higher the further out you are from the date . When low pressure is involved, there is more variability’s to the forecast . As for the inaccurate forecasts, it depends on location ,
@Shanxy1@metoffice Bit harsh mate, when you have strong capping , it’s notoriously hard to predict where that cap may weaken to produce free convection . Understanding a wee bit about thunderstorms and the set ups required may make you appreciate the challenges forecasters have in these situations.
@DailyMirror You are so moronic that you are using a peak wind gust model to show temperatures. You’ve even cropped the chart type out to illustrate your incompetence. Ridiculous!
@metoffice And yet you completely forgot to issue a warning for wales , West Midlands and the south west for high winds that are bringing trees down , damaging roofs , disrupting power . The Severn bridges are closed , there have been two gustnadoes . Gusts nudging 80mph at 5:50am .🤔🤔🤔🤔
@metoffice Trees down all over the place , gustnadoes reported , damage to roofs , power loss across the west , wales and south west .
And no yellow warning . Did someone fall asleep at the desk ? I’m genuinely interested as to why no warning was issued .
@WxMidlands@williemossop@metoffice I’ve tried but I think I may have them regarding clause 1 of the editors code of conduct. Using out of date charts that are cropped to remove time stamp to bolster the articles . In some cases the papers use GFS outputs that are over four days old .
@WxMidlands@williemossop@metoffice Tell me about it , it’s a constant battle of educating and de hyping the redtops hyperbolic drama that is seriously damaging the Met office on a daily , if not hourly basis .
@williemossop@metoffice In defence of the warnings , a yellow is an advisory, it’s a be aware of the potential of adverse weather . It’s not a run for the bunker . Far too many people get this wrong and the news papers hype it to beyond ridiculous. If it’s amber or red , it’s a whole different story .
@metoffice Here’s the clanger you dropped this morning! . Where was the yellow warning for wind through the west and wales from the early hours ? Nudging 80mph in north wales , trees down , dangers conditions for high sided vehicles. 🙄
@metoffice Why isn’t there a yellow warning in place for wind across the western coastlines and wales ? I’m getting reports of trees down etc . It’s rather wild with gusts of 78mph in north wales.
@metoffice You should have extended the amber to include south Shropshire and the Shropshire hills . We’ve got roads blocked , cars stranded and over 20cm .
