In a world full of people that will put you down for your beliefs, be one of the few that chooses discussion over assumption. Treat each other with respect unless proven otherwise!
The fact you don’t even realize the problem with that statement. If too much stuff fits under one category it loses its purpose or intent. If something is able to be the same thing without its defining features than it’s no longer what it was. Yes the most important thing is a good story, but doesn’t change the fact that you change things too much they lose their levity
Both of those characters are typically depicted as a denomination of white to my knowledge so I don’t see your point there. We call it woke because in the last decade alone we’ve had a lot of movies that either race swap beloved characters or put emphasis on characters that are poorly written and no one likes
First off very fair, and not everyone is gonna agree on beauty. Secondly there is a difference between non unanimously and majority. I don’t disagree his movies are loved by a lot of people but even if it’s only like 20% of people who watched the movie that didn’t like that it’s not unanimously adored. Tenant is where people started noticing a decent decline in his film quality which given the state of modern movies I don’t blame anyone for being skeptical
@DominicBaez3@Uncharted7108@SakeSithole Not all of his movies are unanimously scene as good especially his most recent ones, and yeah she’s not. I can think of at least a few blank actors that in my opinion are more attractive than she is like Kerry Washington and Angela basset for example
@Uncharted7108@SakeSithole He also chose to base the movie off a translation that is universally disagreed on in terms of accuracy and the author of said translation has said as much
@Uncharted7108@SakeSithole Because no one tells him no on anything anymore, and he chose someone that I’ve seen many agree that doesn’t match the bar of looks and beauty that is expected of Helen of Troy who in the story is meant to be so beautiful men fought wars for her alone
@Uncharted7108@SakeSithole Majority of Americanized adaptations are because the people making it see their popularity but don’t understand the source material or haven’t even seen anything from it
@Uncharted7108@SakeSithole My guy majority of those movies you mentioned they can pass as who they were cast as, and in the case of the Angelina Jolie the role was re written for that being the case. Was it a good thing probably not, but the movie far as I can tell was poorly written in general anyway
@ge82749@SakeSithole You’re comparing a mythical race of people vs an actual real life race of people. That’s shifting the goal posts way more than I have
@ge82749@SakeSithole You realize Jesus is depicted as white because that’s how he’s always been depicted even if his skin was even moderately brown a white person can still pass as middle eastern for that time period
Exodus they’re at least passable as Jewish people
Prince of Persia is the exact same especially considering Persians are typically lighter skin compared to most other middle easterners from what I’ve seen
Gengis Kahn however I will give to you, but that was also a time period that to my knowledge were Hollywood was very much not looking for actually accurate actors for depicting Asians
